If your set was manufactured around July 2005, you may need a firmware upgrade to solve this issue. On the Sony website you can enter your model # and serial # to see if you TV is affected. If so, it is easy to have done and may be free from Sony. It sounds like the issue they described in the writeup on the required formware update. I had mine done within few months of when i bought it (purchased in Dec 2005) and it has been working flawlessly since.

sorry but sony don't have color wheel , if u have a high pitched noise may be a fan , now the question is is this problem only when u first turn on the tv or is there all the time , if is there all the time fan , but if only when you turn on tv may be u need to replace lamp , because the noise would be from the ballast trying to turn on the lamp

Sounds like The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size. Jerry to be frank with you I would not invest another cent in that Tv. The new once are getting cheaper and you would be alot happier. If you do decide to purchase a new TV look for SMART TV'S. Good Luck.
