I have had this TV for almost 18 months now and about 10 months ago, it would shut off for about and I would turn it back on and it would be OK for the next hour or so. After about a month of this it went away until about 3 weeks ago.
Now it is shutting down every 30 - 45 seconds, staying off for about 25 seconds then coming back on, only to repeat the cycle. I tried to power it down, disconnect from wall etc. but the problem persists.
Help anybody?!
Do just as the others said pull out the bulb and clen the screens on top and bottom of bulb. BUT you can also prevent this from happening as soon the next time. You need to take off the back of your sony tv. On the right rear as you are looking at it there is a black blower on top that is on top of where your bulb fits in. you need a ninety degree phillups head screw driver. take the driver and take out the 3 screws... use a can of air to clean it out... You would not believe the holy hell dust stuck up in that blower!!!! Like I said, take the back of your tv off. If you are not sure where the bulb is once you get it off just turn it on. It's not going to hurt ya. If you are lazy about taking the blower off you can turn it on and shoot the can of air while the bulb is on but you are going to have to take the bulb out ALOT of times to get the dust out of the screens over and over until no more dust collects

When we turn on the TV it tkakes about 2 minutes for the picture to come on. When the picture does come on it has vertical lines acorss the whole picture. Also cannot change channel and volume by remote or on the TV.
I have the same problem on my sony LCD rear projection TV. I turn it on and there are vertical lines of varying colors across the screen, no sound, the only thing the tv responds to from local or remote controls are the power button and the Up arrow on the remote, which is used to trigger a factory reset sequence (according to the manual). Reset doesn't help. The bars slowly start to go away on the screen and usually the TV works the next day. It'll work for a few days a flake out again.
unfortunately the B Box assembly needs to be changed in these and price of the part alone is more than half the cost of a new tv

My 55" Sony Wega TV, KDF-E55A20, keeps shutting itself off and turning back on automatically. The green power light stays lit the entire time, and never flashes. No red flashes either. When we're watching TV, it will suddenly shut off, has no pictures for 20-25 seconds (green power light stays lit the entire time, no flashing), then comes back on automatically, followed by audio a couple seconds later. This happens sometimes every 5 minutes, other times, I can go days without it happening. We've cleaned it thoroughly, taken the back off, cleaned it again, tightened everything...Please help...any suggestions?
Green light flashes 5 and then red light flashes 6

hi,
I have the above tv and power light blinks red 6 times.I checked the internet and found that probably problem is in the thermal fuse but what is the part number for that and how can I replace it?
Thanks
Cat lover
I want to clean the projector sitting in the back as I see that there is some dust on it. I dont know if that is a good idea or not or if it will even make a difference with the image on the screen. I want to take a pc of cotton and windex to it while I am waiting for my thermal fuse. Anyone with advice?

Was watching TV when screen went to all vertical lines of different color. It doesn't matter if you turn it off or not same thing when you turn it back on. anyone have any ideas as to what this may be.
Go to the last page of troubleshooting in the manual and perform the system reset procedure. Basically hold the Wega "arrow up" as you manually switch the TV off. It will automatically switch back on and reset. I had only vertical colored lines on the screen, with audio but no response to any remote control functions. The rest worked perfectly.

hi my name is ramjeet and i have a problem with my sony tv modle #KDF-55A20 it went blank one night and when i try to put in on back it comes on green and then start to flash red six times i called a repair guy and he said the power board is gone and it gonna cost four hundred and ninty five dollars to fix it but from what i read for that problem is that the thermo fuse is blow and why are they telling me the whole board have to replace if any one have a solution for this let me know. thank you
If your set is going to cost you $495.00 to fix it then you might as well buy a new tv which will be cheaper.from my experience that tv will only cost about between $75.00 to $200.00 to fix.get an estimate from another tech have them take a look at it.before they repair.and let me tell you that it is not the whole power board needs to be replaced just the regulator and some other components.good luck.

hi
the red standby light is blinking after i try to turn it on but it wont actually turn on, just blinks red on standby, have googled for an answer with no luck
I have a sony wega 55" lcd. mine flahes 6 times. But if I unplug my tv, then reconnect it a red light flashes one time under lamp. Then 6 times after I hit the power button. Any solution anyone?
there is in-line fuse that blowes, caused by the fan vents being restricted (smoking can be a big facter) the vents should vacumed a couple times a month. you will need to have it seviced (parts and labor cost me 270$

tv is 18 mounth old pic and sound going on and off green power light goes from green to flashing red flashes 5 times
A 5 blink error indicates a bad lamp driver. However a lamp may possibly cause this too. I suggest putting a new lamp in if you have one just to verify the lamp is not the problem. If it still fails with a new lamp then the lamp driver is the problem. This part should be replaced by a Sony authorized servicer. The lamp can be replaced easily by you. The lamp replacement instructions are in the TV's owners manual. Good Luck

The TV was on, working just fine, I was out of the room for a few minutes, came back in and the screen was out. I turned off, unplugged, then plugged back in. Just after the green power light flashes a couple times (as it normally does before the screen comes on), the power light flashes 6 times continuously. turn tv on no picture or sound and red power light flashes 6 times with a three minute delay and flashes 6 times. This code continues until you power off. I have changed the bulb.I have bipast the surge protector and plugged to wll for power
When the lamp fails in this unit, often the thermal fuse opens. The error code is 6 blinks. To replace this part requires a great deal of deal of disassembly.
