Replacing the Lamp should fix the problem. The Lamp door is located on the lower right side.
Remove the door, there should be a inner door that has a oblong knob, turn it counter clock-wise. the door should come out, the Lamp has a loop lever, pull up on the lever and remove the lamp. Most of the time it is shattered. The new lamp is installed in reverse order.
I believe the Lamp number is XL-2100U. But to make sure, check the owners manuel.
If you cannot find one local to you, you can order one through Sony at 1800-222-sony. All you will need is the model number. It should run around 185.00.

You need an optical block. PN: A-1132-202-A. Part is very expensive with a $1500 core charge. Consider replacing the TV. Sorry, this is will eventually happen to all Rear Projection LCD televisions. The UV light emitted from the projection lamp destroys the Blue LCD panel first (shorter wave length), then the Green then the Red. The panels are not serviceable, the entire unit must be changed. I hope this helps... it will save you a $100+ service call fee anyway.

You have to stop watching your TV like this before you damage ballast and replace lamp that according specifications have to be replaced every 2.5 years of average use.
I recommend buy original lamp fully assembled. Info on how to replace it is in your owner's manual.

The "LAMP" LED light indication flashes or staying on?Yes,than Lamp life are over.Tv require a new Lamp.

Put lamp cover back on tv as it will push a safety switch inside then tv will turn On.
Lamp cover is first thing that you removed to replace lamp in tv.

You need a new picture tube. The same thing happened to my tv. My audio went out also but for some reason when the tube was replacd it fixed the problem. The tubs are about 200.00

Look at the output transformers in the high voltagesection of your TV very closely. These transformers have been known to fail sometimes if you look closely you can see the burnt places on the circuit board under the bad transformer. These transformers cost about $30.00. This will fix your TV.

6 times is the lamp thermal fuse or lamp. its a thermal that sits on the bottom of the lamp area.
remove the fan and you will see the siler disk with black base cut the wires and slide the new one in on the side secure it on the old thermal and your fixed.

You need to replace the optical block to fix this problem it sounds like one of your LCD chips is burning out and that is why you get this kind of side effect the OPTICAL BLOCK usually runs around $230.00 - $350.00dls plus labor here is a guide if you want to replace it on your own

Sounds lamp is near to end of working life and weak lamp can cause that symptom, broken lamp will lit lamp light on tv front but weak lamp wont lit that light but tv lose picture for little time.
Replace lamp in tv to fix its issue. Lamp replacement procedure would written in user manual copy.

Symptom shows Lamp is not working and either lamp or its drive board is bad that will be replaced.
