Selecting the view option, either to
Mosaic / Time
slide, can be selected by the
drop-down list, at the top left of the
display window, will make surf easy.
You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model number/IC
used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.
Good sound no picture
A older set------look to see if display comes on (channel number or menu) if not someone has to look to see if the filaments in the three picture tubes are lit or not.Several voltages : High voltage, screen voltage, filament voltage all go to the picture tubes.
Picture blinking to black every 5-10 seconds. No
Your tv is a CRT projection one - in which the image is generated by 3 small tv tubes. Because of that there can be 4 causes for your problem:
1 - the high voltage supply (125v) to the horizontal deflection unit from the power source is unstable - the corresponding components (capacitors and rectifying diodes) will have to be checked and replaced.
2 - the very high tension coming from the flyback transformer discharges before reaching the tubes - you will need to find the location of the discharge (it will be a small spark) and make the distance between the components larger.
3 - the cables that carry the signals and the power to the video board (the board in which the tubes are plugged in) have a faulty contact - current flows thru them, they heat and expand, the contact is broken, the current stops = the screen goes black, they cool and contract, the contact is made, the current starts to flow = the image appears and the cycle repeats. You will need to check them all .
Perfect Picture, but no color
You have the inevitable color wheel problem. The DMD module reflects the picture on to the color wheel which spins at a high speed of several thousand RPM. When the motor is damaged or the wheel itself is damaged you will have problems like the one you are having. You can get one along with the motor for under 200$ and not a very tough repair but its slightly tricky as getting it into the housing is slightly tough. A tv tech would charge you about 100$ for this or if you wanna do it yourself a service manual will be of mighty help. I will see if I got one if you want to DIY.

No power, blown fuse in power supply
This TV has a few fuses and it not easy to troubleshoot it without the schematics, and is very unlikely that the convergence fuses will cause a complete no power on this TV.
What is the location of the blown fuse?
Where do I send you a copy of the service manual?

TV repair
It's probably a power problem--expect $200-$400 to get it fixed. This is not a do it yourself as there are extremely high voltages involved. A technician can come to your house for around $65 and diagnose the problem. Usually they can remove the board(s), fix them in the shop, then reinstall.
