A very old set---you may be able to very slightly adjust the screen controls up to stop this---as the set gets older and darker the set will detect screens too low and blink---called AKB or anti kine bias.

This model uses two convergence chips---likely one is bad but both would have to be replaced and the set adjusted.It involves some soldering so if you are up to that let me know.

Could be anywhere from a menu issue to bad audio amp. Check to see if theres a switch on the back of the TV for audio where you hook up the inputs too while you're there, you should check your connections into the TV. I would first check the menu to see if the sound is muted.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.

I have the exact same problem. I suspect it is the G Board, but don't know for sure yet. Trying to figure it out. Let me know what you find.

the number of flashes of the red indicator lamp points to the possible cause of the delay of the raster or picture, but usually it's an indicator of an emission unbalance between crt(picture tube) guns. the picture will take longer to show up as the emission on either of the picture tubes goes down.

Press the TV/Video button repeatedly

Hi,
Press any channel button on tv remote to switch its input source as TV to watch tv channels.
As you said, screen shows Video-1 display that means tv is set on input-1 that need to be changed, press channel button on remote or tv front to shift it on tv channels mode.

hello before you buy a bulb have tried the resetting the picture go into the menu on picture setting have half way down it should say reset click it .it should brighten up the screen

You should not attempt to clean the mirrors on the Sony TV because that can damage the picture quality.

Does the stby timer flash in any kind of sequence eg: 1x, 2x etc.? This is a diagnostic assist. There are a number of possibilities for this problem unfortunately

in the menu screen, there is an option where you can re align the colors, by adjusting cross hairs

It sounds like the blue CRT (picture tube) is failing. The part number for this is 8-733-575-25 but you will need a technician to replace it for you as there is mechanical and electrical alignment to with with it. At that point it probably isn't cost effective to repair the TV. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thank you.

(i) Disconnect all the cables from the TV including the power cable then reconnect them after a few minutes.
(ii) Ensure that the power cord from the TV is directly connected to a functional wall outlet. Avoid using a surge protector for the time being.
(iii) Next, try operating the TV using the buttons on it.

If still there is no picture but sound is heard from the TV then the projection lamp is required to be replaced. If there is no sound or picture from the TV then service will be required.

Ok two things, either the bulb went out really fast or you have an issue with the ballast. Take out the lamp and analize it, it may look good but might be bad, also try to nitce if you catch any clicking sounds when you turn on the tv, because if it's clicking the issue is most probably wioth your ballast.

remove bulb and clean, if problem persists replace bulb.
