Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.

This tv can be fixed for a reasonable cost. The problem you are seeing is known as convergence problem and can be fixed by replacing the two STK convergence amplifier ICs along with any blown resistors in the circuit that may have caused this problem in the first place. However we should try a convergence adjustment first , Press the Flash Focus button on your remote and the tv will attempt to adjust the covergence values automatically. If it does not resolve the problem, then its time to replace the convergence ICs. Note that this repair requires very good soldering skills and sound knowledge of using the multimeter. If you think that you do not have these, have this work done by a tech. Repair charge is usually about 150-200$. I can get you a list of techs in your area if you can get me your zipcode

U have tools like a soldering iron,a desoldering pump or a roll of desoldering braids and also can do and have pretty good soldering skills,because it involving replacing convergence ICS.The tv have dead convergence board must replace 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors too.To fix the convergence board,to solved the picture convergence problems.As i said u have all the tools have pretty good soldering skills,tries websites like Tvrepairworld.com,Tvrepairkit.com to buy a convergence kit belong ur tv model and make to fix it ur self.Or the shop,will cost like $300-350 for parts and labors.

power supply needs to be serviced, it requires 2 specialized ICs in the main power board, you will need a professional tech.

Symptom shows tv got convergence output chips failure problem, this tv has two big convergence output ICs/ chips on D board that will be replaced to get back correct picture.
If you are handy with electronics stuff repair and can replace/ solder parts in circuit board then let me know to provide you more technical info OR local tv repairman will do this job for you.

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

Yes. There seem to be two problems here. One your convergence ICs are faulty and two you have faulty capacitors in the deflection circuit. Its the board that is located near the flyback and has a couple of heat sinks(not to be confused with those with the STK ICs). Perform a visual inspection for bulged or blown caps so that we can go about replacing them.

your startup card (the computer thing that turns the tv on) is probably out and needs replaced.

if thats not it, it could be lots of things like a fan that has stopped.

your tv is not recieving signal from the tuner or players that's why the blue color appear.is the chennel selector from the remote is working?
Is the TV powers off itself?.tuned in or connect the tv to a dvd player.Do you see a picture?Manually press the channel button on the TV you should recieve signals from the TV stations if not then It is a problem on the tuner section of your TV try this steps first and lets see what happen and we proceed to trouble shooting..Post a message for further assistance...thank you
