A blink of 4 times is an error code that there is no vertical deflection. There may still be a problem with the + or - 15 volt supplies. This error is generate when the vertical deflection pulse is missing. there might be a problem with ic 8003 wich is the vertical drive ic. this chip generates a signal witch is detected by transistor q 8001 check pin 3 to see if you have 4 volt stop signal

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as

How do I get the manual for this TV? does anyone
Hello
Send your email address to me, either by Fixya , or send a mail to me diretly to the belwo mentioned my email. I'll send you the user manual of your TV by return mail. It is an adobe acrobat document, and I cannot send it to you by this site as it allows mw to upload 50Kb only, and the manual has a capacity about 2.8MB. You don't have to pay anything for this. Mention your need also by mail, as I may forget this.OK.

51ws500 sony shuts down and standby light flashes
Eight blinks points to an audio output problem.
The unit goes
to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp,
PS401, and 402. On some projection models of Sony TV sets, this code
means that T8005 (
flyback
transformer), or the associative
components in the high voltage circuits are defective on the D board.
Hope that helps.
Standby light comes on when trying to turn tv on
There is a failure on the circuitry of your television. The protection mode is activated. It is normally activated when the system detects failure on the circuitry to avoid further damage. The no of blinks show where the fault is.. Say for example: 4 blinks. It shows V stop or 13 volts not supplied.. please do count the number of blinks for us to guide you on how to repair your unit..
Picture is blur and not
If you open up the back of the unit you will see the main circuit board...on the horizontal deflection board is a transformer known as a fly-back...this transformer supplies the high voltage necessary for the tubes to operate...there should be two or three controls on the transformer..usually the top is for overall focus and the bottom for the screen control(in the case of three control...two upper ones are focus)..try tweaking this to see if you can get a clearer pix...if it doesn't help then there may be a problem either with the fly-back, the h deflection, or the convergence circuits that may need to be repaired by a shop
Picture out of focus.
if auto focus won't work then replace the converge stk's and the big resistors connected to the stk's
I'm getting a curved(fisheye) picture
Hi,
This kind of picture appears due to failure of convergence output section in rear projection tv, please check convergence output chips and replace them (tv has two chips of same number)
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.
KP-51W5500: Intermittently I have
IF there is no picture, but have sound the it means the set has no highvoltage. This is confirmed by the fact that the CRTs are not coming on. To find out the exact location of the fault, you are gonna have to tell me how many times the power light blinks in between each pause.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from
www.TvRepairKits.com Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone outProjection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.
Common Symptoms include....
- Screen looks 3D
- Colors don't line up
- One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
- Screen is bowed or warped.
- TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.
