Mitsubishi model WD-52525 purple lines across screen
Rolling lines are color bars that scroll from the top of the screen to the bottom and generally represent a malfunction of one or more raster patterns. The TV picture is made up of scanning lines; however yours has an additional color line moving in between the normal synchronization process. Various electronic elements such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, and resistors, may change in value over time. Changes can make various electronic functions change from a normal routine to an abnormal routine such as you are seeing on the TV. If the problem is too difficult to put up with, you can have the mainboard or video RGB projection tubes replaced if found defective by a professional technician. Other than that, you cannot fix the problem yourself.
Pink Rear Projection TV
If your TV uses CRTs to project an image on the screen, it sounds like either the red one is goofy, or the green and blue CRTs are goofy.I had a CRT-based Sony RPTV, and had problems with one of the CRTs dying. I had an extended warranty that covered the bill, but the repair tech (who'd actually been to my house for several other issues with this TV) told me that I'd saved a ton of money having that extended warranty (or service contract if you must). He said that replacing the CRT would have been about a $500 or $600 service call.Frankly, I'd just bag it and get a new TV. I'd look for a store that will cart your old TV away for you because you don't wanna give yourself a hernia lugging that old monster out to the curb. Not only will the picture be significantly better and brighter, but you can also pick up a TV will all the nifty internet gizmos included.
BLUE SCREEN
I got this Sony KP-57WS500 57 in TV for FREE from a guy posting it on craigslist because he saw "BLUE SWIRL LINES" also knows as "Retrace Line" on the screen and he went to several repair people and got high repair costs so he was giving it away for free, but i found a guide that tells you how to adjust the tv to make the blue or green or red lines go away, aparantly the line show up because the voltage on the color ray gun tubes that get out of adjustment. Here is the Link to the REPAIR GUIDE. http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html
Green screen, shutting off
thats a common issue thats usualy caused by the Green CRT drive board if the green works then shuts off. But if it never comes up even for a minute then its probably the green CRT iself that you need. You can get replacement CRT and CRT drive board for your model from
www.tvrepairworld.com
Very faint red line down the side of tv
I would on the model listed first go to a video input that is not used and look to see if line is there-----this model is prone to bad picture tubes but that usually gives diagonal lines that can be seen in the background or on that unused video input.
Blue and red lines across the screen in a rainbow pattern
Projection sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3d, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then yourconvergence is broken and needs to be repaired. This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem. Common Symptoms include....
- Screen looks 3D
- Colors don't line up
- One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
- Screen is bowed or warped.
- TV shuts off after powering on. The power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems. SOLUTION #1What you will need to do is convergence. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com . It includes replacement parts, step by step instructions, support, etc.You can also read more about this on the tips page here on Fixya.
