No picture or sound - Power Save light blinks red 5 times - nothing on the screen

When the tv is turned on, the power save light is green and flashing.  After a short period of time (30 seconds), the power light blinks red 5 times.  It continues the red blinking 5 times cycle for a short period of time and then the unit powers off.
The set is almost 4 yrs old and the lamp has never been replaced.

Sony LCD television will not power on.

I have the Sony KDF-50WE655 and upon starting up I hear a buzz sound and no picture comes on. I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is.

my sony KFWE50S1 has the rd light blinking 6 times when i try to turn it on after it switched itself off. When i try to turn it on the green light blinks 5 times then the red light blinks 6 times

no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.

Lamp Replacement on Sony Wega TV

Hi. It is time to replace the lamp for my Sony KDSR50XBR1 50 Inch TV.
I would love to do it myself, but the Sony manual doesn't tell you where the lamp is located on the TV itself. Can you tell me where on the tv the lamp is located?

I have a Sony model KF50WE610, which is about 3 years old that won't turn on. The green light next to the on buttom blinks 3 or 4 times and then turns red. Through researching the problem, it appears the the lamp is out and needs to be replaced. I removed the rear lower cover, but I cannot find the location of the lamp. Basically, I'm looking for the location of the lamp in order to replace the old lamp with a new one. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

3 times means Lamp and 6 means you have lost a voltage. You may have a thermal fuse blown.
This set has a common trouble with overheating caused by the drum fan located on top of the lamp housing clogged up with dust. When the lamp is getting old it runs hotter and that combined with the fan being clogged the thermal fuse blows. You must replace the lamp and thermal fuse. You must also clean out or replace the lamp fan. This drum type fan should be cleaned out every year or two depending on the environment.

2. The (Green) power light stays on.....no blinking green nor red lights, no picture or sound.
3. Then about 10 seconds later the TV picture and sound is back on.....then loops powering itself off, no picture nor sound (no blinking green nor red lights).

Try to get another fly back as I did even if it's second hand but same type and working, install it if you can, if you can't get a technician to do it for you note it's a dangerous situation because of high voltages, set the pictures features to zero on the menu and start adjusting the focus and screen using the knobs on the fly back while the TV is on and playing, once a little bit darkened display turn up the picture featured to your desired position while checking the display on menu letters and on what might be playing on TV which has got subtitles after that problem solved.

Sony Wega KF-42E200A Projection Bulb

I have a Sony Wega KF-42E200A. We have just replaced the projection bulb and now the TV keeps turning off. The red light is blinking 3 times. Could the bulb be bad? Sony tells us it is unlikely but when we put in the bad bulb, this does not happen but the picture is not good!

New bulb is just fine.
3 blink shows that lamp cover after replacement of bulb in TV is not fixed properly or not seated well in its position.
Put new bulb and carefully place back lamp cover in its position because lamp cover will press tinny safety switch inside that will send signal to system control of TV that lamp is installed properly.
Turn On TV and get vivid picture of Sony.
Thanks.
