Is my Sony Grand Wega Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) compatible?
Consumer Electronics Control (CEC)
What is Consumer Electronics Control (CEC)?
Consumer Electronics Control or CEC is a function that allows you to control multiple devices over HDMI using one remote control by having a secondary device receive commands from a primary device. Although CEC wiring is required for every HDMI port it does not mean that every HDMI port will have the function enabled.
If your device has the CEC function, this information will be located under your setup or settings menu.
To enable the function you will need to turn the CEC function on and then search for any devices that are CEC enabled that are connected to the TV.

How do you replace the ballast on a kdf e55a20
to change a ballast board its a bit of work and a tear down to get it in there . but first lets review your problem .
its cycling off every 30 seconds . id suspect a defective lamp or a power supply problem since it sounds as if the ballast board does fire . that's assuming that you do see something come up on the screen when it attempts to start if a ballast has failed it usually will make a noise or the set would almost go into a shut down . also how many blinks and what order are the events happening ?

Blue cut-off adjustment should be done. In other words white balance adjustments should be re-touched.

SET KEEPS TURNING OFF
Sounds like the thermal sensor is defective. They are usually located on our near the lamp assembly housing.
What does red flashing light on front of tv mean?
It may be the lamp light indicating a lamp has failed--model listed here does use a lamp. Also look at the blinks to see if a specific number then a pause and repeats, if that then that is a error code.
Pink splotches on white screen
I had a very similar problem with mine... You are correct, it is the optic block.. it will cost about a $1000 or so to fix. I chose to fix my 60" because I absolutely love these TVs. The Technology may be older but they are still great!!!!! (i.e. Instant Picture...no refresh rate required!!!)If you think you also have a dust issue just get a vacuum cleaner and clean the vents on the back of your TV. You can also remove the Front Panel... take out the lamp (make sure your TV is COLD!!!...trust me on this) and vacuum what you can making sure you do not touch the back mirrors (located where your lamp goes in). You should do this every time you change the lamp at a minimum.
