hello.+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then
displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply
circuit, check T603 and R672.
You need to switch off the power and remove the rear panel , check the alignement and look for faulty connectors on the main board. It is also possible that if the fault seems to increase while the set works or if the fault is high in the begining but reduces when warmed up , then the capacitors can be weak. you can simulate using a hair dryer to identify the fault area or also use a freeze-it spray , if the fault reduces when cooled.Replace the suspected capacitors in the identified section.
We need more information. What is hooked up to the TV and how is it connected to the TV. You stated that you have audio. From what? Outside antenna for Over the air TV, or Cable TV Box, or Cable Card, or Satillite TV, or Blueray Player, or Sony PlayStation. Choose one and please explain how you connected yoyr wires. Good Luck. I hope we can help you.
You will need to remove the back to get at the lamp housing from the inside to see it, its a bit tricky as it involves removing some pieces to get at the fuse and maybe just lifting the light engine assembly.
To access the tremal fuse you hve to remove the following item.
1. Remove rear cover 2. Remove Sub-woofer speaker box (not needed for A20 models) 3. Remove metal backing plate. 4. Remove Exhaust fan 5. Remove Optical Block screws
6. Remove Open thermal fuse. 7. Install new Thermal Fuse I have added a video wich will help you access the tremal fuse. Its a different model may be help you.
Also added picture of connector which gose to the thermal fuse.
Hi, The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV. The self-diagnostic function of the TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue. Few examples are given below; some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service. 1 blink / 2 blinks / 5 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set. 3 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set. The set will need to be serviced to allow a technician to determine the specific issue that needs to be repaired. If the power light flashes three times in sequence in a Lamp TV, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue. 4 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a back light or lamp power problem. 6 blinks: - This indicates that there is some kind of audio problem with your set. 7 blinks: - This indicates that there is a temperature problem with your set. Please check to make sure that the air vents on the sides and back of the set are not blocked or clogged and there is adequate ventilation around the television. We recommend that you check and clean the vents periodically to make sure the set receives adequate air flow. If the problem continues, the set will need to be serviced. 8 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a video-related problem with your set. If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset: Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved. Turn off the television. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television. If the issue continues to occur, service may be required. Thanks for using Fixya.
the reason the tv flashes its l.e.d is to tell you there is a major fault in the main circuit board (pcb) and needs to be fixed its not a fuse it not a reset problem its a dynamic fault that could be from a bad resistor to a downed capacitor if you have knowledge of these components then check them using a multimeter find the faulty parts and replace accordingly. but if you have no idea then it will need to go into the repair shop. a lot of our customers ask us if the unit (tv) etc after being fixed will be any good or should they buy a new one. a good tech will fix the unit and in most cases it will be tweeked and work better but always get a quote up front and hold them to it within $50.00
best of luck to you

If it is Sony KDF-60XS955 then its lamp is near to end and needs replacement. Lamp replacement procedure would be written in user manual and its easy. If tv model number is different than above mentioned, please let me know.
It's the Digitial Optical Block. Sony is working with owners of this, and many other sets that have the same problem since the 2004 model year lineup. http://sites.google.com/site/sonylcdrptvproblems/
Start your search to the appropriate link from the site above. Hope this helps
I have that manual. There are three lights to the left of the power button. One is labled LAMP. The manual states "The projection lamp, which illuminates the picture, has a limited life. If the screen becomes dark, the color looks unusual, or the LAMP indicator on the front of the LCD projector TV flashes, it is time to replace the lamp with a new one (not supplied). Use a Sony XL-2200 replacement lamp (not supplied) for replacement. Use of any other lamp may damage the LCD projection TV." I also found in a different page " LAMP LED lights up in red when the lamp for the light source has burnt out." I guess burnt out would be extream. I found one other if you had opened the light bulb cover and didn't close it properly. " If the lamp cover is not reattached securely, the self-diagnostic function may be triggered and the POWER/STANDBY indicator flashes three times." You can down the sony manual at http://www.docs.sony.com/release/KDF60XS955.pdf
Hi, Please replace lamp in tv as existing lamp has reached at end of working life and causing problem. Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual. Thanks.
You have the fatal Sony KDF optical engine issue. Sony has had most if not all these models fail prematurely. The solution is to replace the optical engine. The problem is they are not available as a new unit only a repaired unit so the problem will no doubt reappear in the future. Many people have had success with contacting the Sony customer service representatives and can usually get them to sell you a new unit for a couple hundred dollars. For my money that would be the best way for you to go. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r7851924-sony_projector_yellow_or_blue_dots which explains the problem and offers solutions.
