Flashing screen and green light on my magnavox HDTV
These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. This problem is caused by a bad optical block. Sony has extended the warranty to cover parts and labor for this particular problem. You can find additional information and help on getting service here:

My TV had the same problem. I called Sony yesterday and they told me to reset the TV. I did so yesterday, and it seemed to work. Here is the transcript with instructions:
Please turn ON the TV.
While holding down the RESET button on the Remote control, press the POWER button on the TV.
The TV will turn itself OFF, then back ON again.
Release the RESET button.The TV will go thru the initial setup, and should work normal.
Blinking green light
Any red lights? If not, most likely a bulb. Open lamp door and inspect bulb. Change if necessary. It is not always obvious the bulb is bad, a weak bulb can cause the same issue.
