is the lamp light flashing? if yes, lamp needs replacement. you can buy lamp from www.sony.com/dapc

if lamp light if not flashing, turn off tv for 5 mins. then unplug for 1 min. if the same. tv needs service. check www.eservice.sony.com

I will anticipate that I do not bring good news.

The blue tint could be the result of a detached mirror in the light tunnel, but the blue small dots in the center of the screen usually mean that there is a defective light engine. In that case the whole light engine must be replaced, and the part is quite expensive, often over $800.

Call Sony and check if they can offer a good price on repair. The light engine can be ordered calling this seller (part is not in stock).

This is indication of lamp is reaching to end of its working life and need to be replaced to solve this issue in tv.
Lamp replacement procedure would be written in user manual of tv and it is very easy, well explained.
Please buy Sony original lamp from nearest Sony store for good picture in tv.

If tv turns back on itself after shut down then it is weak lamp problem, replace lamp in tv to fix its problem.
Buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv and replace it as it is user level repair and lamp replacement procedure is mentioned in related user manual.
If standby light start blinking after shut down, let me know how many times it blinks after three second pause to provide you info about possible cause of problem.

YOU HAVE EITHER A DEFECTIVE OPTICAL ENGINE ASSEMBLY OR THE OPTICAL ENGINE IS JUST DIRTY INTERNALLY. IF YOU CAN TURN THE TV OFF AND STILL SEE THE BLUE SPOTS AFTER THE VIDEO GOES AWAY THEN IT WILL BE DEFECTIVE OPTICAL ENGINE IF NOT THEN IT IS MOST LIKELY DIRTY OPTICAL ENGINE.

HAS THE LAMP EVER BEEN CHANGED BEFORE? IF NOT THAT YES THE LAMP IS MOST LIKELY THE PROBLEM.

I would try replacing the lamp if everything else is ok with the set. The part number is XL2200. If you are not able to find one local to you call Sony customer service at 1800-222-SONY.

It sound like your convergence has gone out on your TV. In most cases there are two convergence IC's that need to be replaced and a few resistors and fuses that need to be checked. If you are handy with a soldering gun you can do this yourself. You will need to buy a convergence kit or by the parts separately.

Sounds like you have a bad light engine.

you need a new bulb

the convergence board probably causing the problem, you need to change the convergence IC's, or the board.

It sounds to me like you got a fingerprint on the lamp when you installed it. The oils in your skin can cause all kinds of problems on a lamp that gets soo hot. I recommend replacing the lamp again and using a tissue or sterile glove to hadle the new bulb. Also, before replacing the lamp make sure to clean and vacuum out the light engine box and fan.

If the problem persists, then the LCD panels inside the light engine have been heat damaged. There is a class action lawsuit in New York that is trying to extend the light engine warrantee on Wega TVs. You should give Sony a call at 1-800-222-SONY for information and more assistance.

First make sure the lamp is good, if its been at least 3yr since replacing the lamp or if its never been replaced now is the time to do so.

this is the result of a failing optic block and its a shame because i think these sets have a beautiful picture for their technology and era but this was a problem had by every size of these wega console projectors i hate to be the bringer of bad news but a color engine (optic block) isnt a very cheap repair i have one of these failed sets home and i use it to game and that suits me fine google this issue and you will find more info on this issue to better your knowledge and next step in fixing your problem hope this helps you alot

You've got it right, it seems you need to replace the lamp. If the lamp is faulty the unit will not turn on. See the instructions manual for lamp replacement..
