Sony Betacam SP Small Videocassette 30 Minutes Digital Betacam SP Tape - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Digital betacam tape stuck in Sony UVW-1800 deck
Digital tapes should still eject normally (they are the same size and shape) which indicates that it has jammed somewhere inside.
If you want to fix it yourself you will have to remove the cover and check the tape.
If the cassette hasn't spooled up and all the tape is inside the cassette you should be able to unscrew the carriage (the cradle that takes the tape in and down) and remove it that way.
If the tape has spooled around the heads there is a cog (can't remember the exact position of it) arranged vertically near the side of the machine that you can manually wind the spooling arms back into the cassette.
Good luck

Yeah, unscrew the 2 top screws. Underneath the lid, there's instructions on how to manually remove the tape. You're also going to have to pull out the tape tray. There's a metal piece holding it down that you can remove by taking out the 2 screws. Then it's a matter of pulling the tray out and turning the tiny gear at the front (not the 2 bigger ones on the side) until it makes the full motion path. Holy ****, that takes a long time. Once you have removed the tape, replace the tray, the holding bar, the 2 screws for that, and the cover.

Use an hair dryer and warm within the set. If it clears wipe off any dew that has set in . Wipe also the head clear with a good swab. if the fault is recurring then clean the dew switch sensor or replace.

The probem as told on another site (sorry, can't remember to give proper credit) is that the pinch roller is not making contact with the capstan. THis is exacly what happened to my 1800 after sitting for a long time with no use. THe solution was to manually excersize the lever going to the solenoid to unstick the mechanism. Then, voila, pinch roller pinches, tape moves, UVW1800 happy again.

Beatcam SP error message
BVW-75 error 09 is "threading motor time out". Look for something obstructing the travel of the threading ring inside the deck (the ring which pulls the tape around the video head).

Hi, I believe I know the problem having attempted to fix no less that a few dozen dvd players with similar problems. I would first try to clean the laser head with a dvd lens cleaner ( the kind with auto play and the little brushes actually on the disc.) Occasionally there may be foreign material partially obstructing the path of the laser beam causing playback for audio but not all dvd's-If that does not work I would say the dvd system has reached near the end of its life cycle ( this can be as little as a yr depending on how many total hours played and the manufacturer.) it can be the laser has gotten a little weak but more often than not the video digital to analogue has over heated just one to many times and is now on the fritz. I have never successfully repaired a dvd player that played music but not movies ( they're too cheap to buy these days to put so much effort into unfortunately-although as I said dirt can't be ruled out-I really had a game console that somehow had a dusty lens.) I hope this was of some use, thank you for choosing FixYa, write back to let us know if this helped or if we can be of further assistance, good luck-Prodzilla
