No firmware from zonet, not sure if this is newer than what you are using

There is no way to recover the password unless you reset it to factory defaults. This would mean losing your current configuration. I would try to guess everything you can possibly think of. If you still can't figure it out you need to reset to factory settings. To reset factory settings there is a button on the back of the router that says reset. Hold this down for 30 seconds and everything should be reset.

use encryption enabled & if your ISP supports use firewall, if firewall is enabled , intrusion to ur router is very difficult.

change its default password to ur unique password , no one will be able to enter ur router from web .

Turn the router off.
Take a Norwegian paper-clip and straighten one end.
Insert that end into the small hole in the back of the router.
Push it in until you feel resistance.
Push another 1/8 inch (3 mm) and hold it in for 30 seconds.
This should "reset" the router back to its "factory" settings,
including the "default" values for ID & password.

Then, turn the router on, and configure it.

You need to log into the wireless router either by a computer that successfully connects wirelessly or by physically connecting with an ethernet cable. Once connected, log into the router by open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari), and typing the router's address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) into the Address (or URL) line. The default usernameand password is usually "admin" & "admin" or "admin" & "password". Once successfully logged in, look for a tab or link that says "Wireless" or "Security". You'll be able to change whether security is enabled or disabled, and the password associated with it. Your security options are WEP or WPA (or WPA-PSK). WPA-PSK is the most secure, but WEP is also an acceptable choice. Select the security option of your choice and either enter text into the passphrase generator or choose your own password and type it into one of the security key text fields. If you use a password that is not a plain english combination of letters and numbers, be sure to write it down so that you can enter it as needed on other wireless devices that need to access your router (ie-pda phones, game consoles, laptops, desktops, etc). Be sure to save changes so that the security settings and password is saved.

Are you trying to set up the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
Then you need to connect the computer to the router ad the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

With an Ethernet cable, connect your computer to the router,
i.e., do not try to upgrade via "wireless".

Download the updated firmware from the manufacturer's web-site.

Access the "built-in" web-server "inside" the router,
and click to find the web-page that allows you to update the firmware.

Click the "Browse" button on that page to find the file on your computer that you downloaded. Click "Update".

If you connect the computer to the modem, it works. but it does not work with the router. You will need to check the settings of the router. For this you will need to access the router set up. Your ISP is comcast. The computer which is online when connected to the router is your main computer. you will need to use that computer to set up the router. Click Here for step by step solutions

First make sure that the computer is able to go online when connected directly to the modem without the router.

Nevermind. For some reason it took a while(like a day) for the settings to take effect(!?). Don't know why - the Linksys always took effect immediately. *sigh*

Click start and click on run and type cmd.
Black window opens up.
type ipconfig and press enter .
You can see the following listed
IP address , subnet mask and then default gateway. Default gateway is your Routers IP address.

the error that you are getting is related to the hardwired connectivity between the router and the computer,make sure there is a correct cable connected from the back of your computer to the router,and to reset the router what you need to do is if look at the back of the router you will see a button that says reset hold down the button for 60 sec now lights should blink on the router,turn off the router for a min and then power it back the router will be reset to default and make sure the physical setup is done correctly between the router adn the computer..
any problem or confustion even after doing the above steps..plz revert back with the queries...

You have to login to it as its administrator. Normally you do it from a browser like ie. You type in the IP address of the gateway eg 192.168.2.1 and should come with a screen on the router ..then login if you know the password and go from there in the menus.
