MDS-E10 Problems loading and ejecting discs
Hi, its probably way too late to give this solution but there is a ribbon cable that runs from the main board onto the display board that causes this problem. Its very accessable from the top and all you have to do is pull it out clean the contacts and re-seat it. This will resolve all sorts of communications issues with the display and buttons.
MDS-E10 will not eject disc
The lower end mechanism were full of problems after about a year of use. The unit needs to go to an appropriate Technician- NOT Sony as they will just replace the mechanism if they even work on it and it will be the same cost of a new unit. The mechanism you have needs lubrication and a limiting resistor placed in line with motor to not break plastic parts.
I have a minidisc model mds e10
Hi,
it seems your MD unit is expecting a digital signal on the digital input causing this message to appear.
You need to connect a signal source to the digital input
or
connect an analog signal to an analog input and select the analog input as signal source.
In both cases the DIN UNLOCK message will then disappear.
Cheers
Sony MDS-E10 has been dropped. need schematics to solve problem.
Your service shop would need to purchase the service manual (if available). The problem here is that without seeing the unit, I can;t tell you whether the optics are bad or the tracking head is bad or the loading mechanism is defective. None of those options are cheap. Let me look into this a bit and see what I can find. I will try to get you part numbers at least with costs.

Not ejecting
You need to go to minidisc.org and get the service manual for this deck. As for the belt they are not available in the USA but if you go to eBay and click on world wide there are several sellers in Germany who stock them.
I replaced similar worn out bands on the MD trays in my JA50ES and JA20ES. Please make note you cannot substitute any other bands they simply will not work correctly; but our German friends stock the correct bands...
Both of the German suppliers sell the bands for about $12USD with shipping. Most older belts have bands which are so stretch out they do not work well or have broken as in your situation.
Good Luck...
My MDS-E10 Has Been Having Problems Lately. I Own
hi there is nothing to do by yourself. you need to take your md player to the next authorized service. seems the optical device that reads the discs has worn out, compareable to turntables you need to change the `needle` ;)
I have an MDS E10.
I've had similar problems with older Pioneer displays, they do wear out in time. What worked for me was placing a shim made from a cable tie near the ribbon cable going to the display moving the cable into a better position. This may not work for you, the display may be near failing due to old age I'm sorry to say.
Won't record. Often get read error when inserting minidisc.
The head assembly has a read head and a record head (combined into one sub-assembly). Unless you're in a very dusty environment or are a heavy smoker then it's difficult to get dirty heads, it's much more likely that your unit is just suffering an age-related head failure which will progress further to affect disc playback as well. The first sign of a playback error will be the dreaded "TOC error".
There is no fix: the units are long discontinued and the heads do not last forever. Spare ones are as rare as fresh **** **** and are not easy to fit. The unit has lasted far longer than it was designed to and is now on the slippery slope to total failure. While you still can, make analogue transfers of any music which you only have on minidisc and prepare to switch to a newer format in the near future. It's a real shame as the sound quality on a good MD unit still blows anything which has followed it (especially the iPlayer) out of the water.
When inserting a minidisc into the unit, (recorded
This cannot be fixed. You need a new head for the machine but they're no longer available.
Almost all of my minidisc equipment has come from FreeCycle/Freegle and as the name suggests they didn't cost me a bean; I suggest you try there first for a replacement machine.
I am selling my Sony
No it doesn't.
You can download a free copy of the
user manual here.
I hope that I've been of assistance, please don't forget to take a moment to rate my answer.
Pitch control
No. You have pitch control on this model, but only by altering playback speed by plus or minus 12.5%.
