Sony TC WE435 Stereo Dual Cassette Deck Single Dual Cassette Deck - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Hookup soney duel tape deck to onkyo equalizer
If you are trying to equalize the sound from one half to the other ... you cannot, unless there are separate INPUT and OUTPUT jacks on the back. Otherwise you will need a second cassette deck.
Hookin equalizer to tape deck and recever
The equalizer I have seen have Line in, line out, tape in, tape out and that is how you utilize a unit like this. The line IN goes to the receivers tape record out. The line out goes to the receivers Tape play in or monitor, The tape deck hooks to the equalizer. The record or input of the tape deck hooks to the EQ record out, the Tape decks output hooks to the EQ's Tape in connectors. All these are stereo so there are left and right sides which you need to keep consistent. Red on a cable means Right, the white or black on cables mean Left or the top RCA connector on most equipment. When playing back a tape the tape monitor is turned on with the receiver and left on. The way you record on tape from any source of the receiver is to select that source and it should go to the equalizer. Then the deck should record that source. To play a tape of the deck hooked to the equalizer then just press the tape monitor button on the EQ otherwise the Equalizer will just act as a loop and equalize any signal source that is coming from the receiver and the tape monitor on the receiver should stay on most of the time. Some equalizers have two tape inputs so you would hook another deck to that input and the owners manual of the equalizer should say how to select buttons to transfer tape signals from one to the other. If you master the concept of inputs and output of audio equipment then this hookup becomes another easy thing to do.
Denon 1403/483 hooking up equalizer
ANY analog tape deck or external processor woul go into the VCR OUT / IN pair or the CDR/Tape OUT / IN pair. Out of one device to in of the next then back.
Though not specifically addressed in the manual, I believe that operationally, ONLY ANALOG sources will go OUT to the Tape or Processor (whether or not the Tape or VCR is selected). Once you select either one of those the analog audio will be heard AFTER the external device proceeses or records it. It would be the same as Playing a tape.
However, digital sources will be disabled once the VCR or Tape is selected.
I have a duel cassette
Mine did that - you will have to patiently keep pressing the clear / stop / pause / etc and even power cycle a few (or many) times and finally you will hear the mechanism release the cassette. Once you hear that - you will be able to eject the cassette. After that go replace the belts.
Won't record and play sounds muffled
Muffled sound is either damaged media (is it mostly the Left Channel? Multiple tapes or not?) or dirty Playback Head. Clean the heads and transport.
Please define better what "won't record" means. Tapes to be recorded need to have the little tab in the corner of the cassette shell present to allow the machine to enter record mode.
Belt replacement in a sony tc-wr645s tape deck
I have just spent half a day trying to replace the drive belts in my sony twin deck unit , in the end it still didnt work as the the old rubber belt did some damage to the unit , anyway shops like **** smith or tandy stock the drive belts , take the front of the unit away from the main case there will be a plastic casing that surrounds the belts there are at least two belts, there should only be two small screws undo these and move the plastic unit forward on the plastic mounting brackets then you will see the metal wheel and the plastic wheel that you fit the belt around , its a bit fiddly but i can do it in my sleep now even though the motor died it was a good experience
Tape will not turn
The more detailed the description of the problem, the better for diagnosing the root cause. Thanks.
It sounds like you have a couple of problems. I'll address them as you have them numbered above.
1. Decks typically have belts to drive the various 'reel' mechanisms. Therefore, they can slip without breaking anything inside the machine or the tape. Your first symptom leads me in that direction.
2. That it migrated is mysterious, unless Sony is using a common motor to handle both decks' reel duties.
3. This symptom may have something to do with the root cause of both sides jamming...
Do the cassette well doors come off, say, for cleaning? Could they be dislodge? If so, they may have something to do with the jamming problems in # 1 and #2 as the doors play a part in positioning the cassette and holding it in place against the reel motor cogs. How do the doors operate with NO tape inserted?
Does it take excessive force to close the door only WITH a tape? make sure the tape is fully seated before closing the door. The capstans (directly below each reel cog) have to engage through the small holes at the lower edge of the cassette. They should be straight and clean. Any dirt or oxide on them will cause problems as these are what move the tape at the precise speed necessary for good playback or recording.

My hipshot recommendation, otherwise, is to look around inside the cassette wells very carefully for any foreign matter, debris, dust bunnies.
Do you maintain the deck as recommended?
Records on right channel only so only get music from right speake
If you are recording from an outside source check the connections are good. If it does it from both IE dubbing and external it is possibly that a wire has detached from the head of the record head. The other likely source is the record amp inside the deck. Trace the leads from the Tape head (recording one) and see if you can locate a switch, these can get dirt on the contacts and cut out channels (clean with Servisol video 40). It could also be the electronics especially the amp chip!
If not then the head itself may have gone.
Cassette Tape Deck Problem
Unit may have worn belts that are slipping. All cassette player belts are subject to deterioration even if recently installed. You may try ordering the belts yourself and have a service tech install them. The tech that installed belts 9 months ago may have used used belts. Although dishonest, it is common.
Recording w mic
Hi on1site
Something you may have to try.
if the unit has level controls for gain, sometimes, you can get enough gain through the standard stages to record, particularly if the music is LOUD:). Record live to tape, drop it into a computer and run a compressor over it to pull the gain up to a decent level. Use the best mics you have is also another tip to good recording.
