I pour tea on top of my hi-fi and the standby
you know electronic devices are usually affected by liquid substance when they are at work.At the moment the tea poured on the system, should you have switched it off immediately, the problem would have been a minor one. However, since you left the system on, I think the system panel has been greatly affected and needs repair. You will need to take it for repairs, but you could try loosing the panel and drying it with a heater or by sun, then fix it back in place to see if it works,ok

If that do not work you are out of luck because that means the laser assembly is defective already, and replacing that is very difiicult, whats more they are an expensive part, costing anywhere from 50 to over a hundred bucks. Lastly they are hard to find for a particualr model.
I need a part # for the volume controle on an Aiwa
The "volume control" on your Aiwa is in fact what is called an "encoder". These can fail. They work in concert with the microprocessor to control the electronic volume control IC. Fault
the only thing you can do yourself is leave the set unplugged for over an hour, this will reset it to factory settings. If that does not do the trick it will need to serviced. Chances are if it is a rear projection set that the convergance board is dead. This would be more to fix than the tv is worth.
