Sylvania SSD803 DVD Player/VCR - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Has lines and no sound
I don't own this player, but it sounds like you have done the right things. Did you clean with isopropyl alcohol? Others may leave a sticky residue. Otherwise the head may be misaligned.
Have lines and no sound for my vcr
The tracking system for the tape has likely gone bad. I had a similar problem with one of my VCRs and when I took it apart, I found a very small washer that had fallen off the bottom of a roller and deposited itself on the metal bottom...I was lucky! I put it back on carefully and it's still working after about another 20 hours of use.
Disc error "playback feature may not be available on this disc"
I have a DVD and VHS player in 1 and it was working well then all of a sudden the DVD player part just stopped playing. I stick in a disk and then it would read: disk error play back feature may not be available on this disk. And this disk is fine it plays in my daughters room in her 2 in 1 player. so What can I do? The VHS player works well. Help! I dont really want to buy a new one!
How do I change EP,SP,and
Hi,
As you may know, the EP,SP issue is related with VCR function (Recording ) only..
it is selectable only before recording session starts..while it plays any VHS cassette whatever the speed is , it selects automatically..there should be either a small switch in control panel or in the recording speed in "SET UP MENU "
let me know if it does not work out..

Problems playing a VCR tape
check/replace your vcr's belts, clean the reel sensors and check or look for bloated and deffective capacitors on power supply section,
CST In light is flashing green
I had the same problem. Aren't three-year-olds great? Mine had jammed several clothing tags into the VCR slot. Clearing them out didn't solve the problem, but I then took the outer case off (with power disconnected of course) and verified that there was no physical damage to the tape heads and that everything internally was clear. I put the case back on, and everything's back to normal.
Ssd803 dvd won't recognize universal remote
Sorry to say that most universal remotes do not work well with combo devices ie. vcr/dvd, tv/vcr, and so on. One thing you can try doing is to program the vcr portion of the remote to controll the vcr side, and the dvd protion to control the dvd side. More than likeley there will be a lack of functionality since combination units have buttons that would not be needed on individual devices.
I have found that the Logitech Harmany universal remotes work very well with anything but they tend to cost quite a bit more. You might be able to find a basic model on ebay or amazon for around $50.
Vcr won't accept tape
My husband was able to fix the problem. It turns out that the sensor switch was jammed. He used a piece of duct tape to block the signal while putting in a tape. The tape went in and still worked after he removed the duct tape. I have recorded and played a tape, so all is well right now.
Sylvania ssd803 dvd/vcr combo unit
This is a common problem with this model,The sensor inside the player that tells the player a tape is in or the tape has been ejected is Broken or out of alinement .This will need to be repaired by a pro and to be honest with you it might be cheaper to buy a new one!
I hope I was of help!

Connection data
Hi,
I think you accidently set your DVD player to P.Scan mode.
Simply turn the DVD player on.
Make sure you do not have a disk in the tray.
Press the DVD button 3-4 times.
The picture should come back.
Let me know if that works.
Thanks,
Mike
Sylvania SSD803 DVD Player / VCR Combo
Hi There,
You are having a connection problem.
Are you using a Yellow red and white cable?
Can you provide details your connection from the back of your DVD player and Television.
Thanks,
Mike

It may be that you just need to get a cleaner for the DVD player (disc with like little brushes on it). They are not expensive and have worked well for me in the past when my kids have done the same thing as your little brother.
I have an old Sylvania tv and it won't turn on
Here are some troubleshooting tips to try. However, as it is an older set, if these tips fail, the cost of a repair at a shop might exceed the value of the TV. In short, a new TV may be in the works. Cross your fingers. One of these tips may work.
Let's troubleshoot the issue and try to get it working:
If you are using a remote, check the batteries in it. If you are using several remotes with it, try the alternative remote. Sometimes there is a glitch affecting the remote for a Roku where it won't turn on the TV other than a powered black screen and you have to use the other remote to turn it off and back on and then the Roku screen pops up. I have not sorted out why.
Check Power Cord and Connections:
First, ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into both the TV and the electrical outlet.
If you suspect a faulty power cord, consider trying a different one.
Reset the TV:
While most Sylvania TVs don't have a dedicated reset button, you can perform a manual reset:
Unplug the TV's AC adapter from the electrical socket.
Press and hold the Power button on the TV for 20 seconds.
Plug the AC adapter back in and turn on the TV.
Check Audio/Video Cables:
Inspect the audio/video cables connecting your TV to the satellite or cable receiver.
Ensure that the color-coded prongs match their respective connecting points.
Correct any mismatches (e.g., white cable into a red port) by reorganizing the prongs.
Inspect Coaxial Cable:
Look for the coaxial cable on the rear side of the receiver, attached to the port labeled as ANT IN.
Confirm that the connection is firm; a loose coaxial connection can cause display issues.
Tighten the cable by pinching the silver band on the end and rotating it clockwise until secure.
Check for Interference:
If distortion continues on the TV screen, consider nearby interference.
Power-hungry appliances can cause electronic interference, affecting display quality.
Visit a Repair Shop:
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you may need professional help.
Some technical faults, such as a blown fuse or faulty capacitor, require expertise in dismantling and soldering.
If uncomfortable with such tasks, consider visiting a repair shop

I have a 37in limited edition Sylvania TV I have tried every code on my Phillips universal remote none work. Is there a specific code.
- Auto Code Search:
- Turn on your Sylvania TV.
- Press and hold the "Code Search" button on your Philips remote until the indicator light stays on.
- Press the "TV" button on the remote to set it to control the TV.
- Press the "Power" button repeatedly until the TV turns off.
- Press the "OK" or "Enter" button to save the code.
- Manual Code Entry:
- Find the code for your Sylvania TV in the Philips remote control manual. If you don't have the manual, you may be able to find it on the Philips website.
- Turn on your Sylvania TV.
- Press and hold the "Code Search" button on the remote until the indicator light stays on.
- Enter the code using the number buttons on the remote.
- Test if the remote now controls your TV. If not, repeat the process with a different code.
- Try Common Codes:
- Some common Sylvania TV remote codes for Philips remotes are 0810, 1684, 1886, 2183, 1081, 1172, 1196, and 2049. Try entering these codes manually.
