The message has appeared because the TV can not display the hdcp signal that is now used to enable copy protection over the HDMI cable due to the TV being older than the hdcp encryption system (the hdcp is not fitted to your TV ) The two options open to you are Replace the TV with a hdcp compliant TV Get a component lead set up

The Sylvania 6655 appears to be somewhat limited. In addition to standard DVD MPEG-2 format, it will play JPG images and MP# audio. That's about it. I recommend sticking with the standard MPEG-2. You can't miss with that.

Try a reset to this TV and check. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. It's the fuse in the electric engine. You can bypass this fuse by cutting it off and then you just connect the two ends together, wrap with electrical tape. It'll work, that's what I did to mine. Works great again

A lot of people are confused about turning the TV 'off'. If there is a light showing when the TV is 'off' it is merely on 'stand-by' and not truly off. Off means being physically turned off by either the switch on the set or the mains. using the remote to turn 'off' the TV will not turn off it will only put the set into stand-by mode. In many cases if the TV is in stand-by mode, and then switched off, when the set is turned back on, it will still be in stand-by mode, and will need to be turned on with the remote. (even if you unplug, in some cases) All TV's are different, so will operate differently of course.

Did you finalize the DVD before you removed it from the VCR/DVD recorder? Until a disc is finalized, it won't work on another device. If you left some space, try to finalize it now. Does the disc play when in that Sylvania unit? It is possible that the unit is faulty and didn't focus the laser properly for writing to the DVD. (If you actually tried to burn to a CD and not a DVD-R, then no data was written to the disc. There are slight differences to the laser settings for CDs and DVDs.) I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Better late than never. The problem is that your TV is in the service mode. There are many ways this can happen. But, lets just get down to fixin this! With the original remote and the TV on. If the TV will not shut off, do this. Press the left cursor button on the remote, followed with pressing the right cursor. Power off the TV with remote, or press off button on TV. Secondly, your TV will power on and off. But you have flashing colors. Do this. With the original remote and TV on. Press the up cursor button, on the remote, followed with pressing the down cursor.
