Did you get an answer to this. My daughter bought a used TV w/o remote and wants to view DVD only.

There are 2 reasons of this problem, check TV remote control, is it working or not?
2nd reason, there can be dust in your TV, aspeacially in front of remote sensor, this can be the cause of No Remote Signal Receive.

There are bad solder connections on the vertical IC. This is a small flat IC attached to a heat sink. It should have about 9-11 pins and may be marked LA7837 or something similar. Resolder the pins on this IC and that should resolve the problem.

Somehow the screen got magnetized. It needs to be degaussed (demagnetized) with coil tool that puts out a big magnetic field. All TV shops can do this for you quickly. The TV itself has a degaussing coil built right into it and everytime you start it up it does a little degaussing - that's the kind of 'boing' sound you hear. Might be able to get rid of your bullseye by turning the set on and off a bunch of times. On the other hand, if the internal degausser circuit has failed and stays on too long, it may be the source of the problem.

The uiversal remote companies pride themselves on working with any TV. Many of them have an 800 number (should be right on the package when you buy it) that will give assistance with TVs like this. Most off brands are actually made by a name brand maker and if you (tediously) try all the codes you should find one that works at least the important features.

• green tint & also very prominent when there is a black screen.
• this problem is due to degaussing effct or magnetic effct in tv.
• please remove magenatic material near tv like speaker or headphone.
• if you have turned the direction of tv please bring to normal put the tv on & put it off for 30 minutes & now put it on it will be ok.
•  do not turn tv when it is on

There may be a reset facility on the TV. Check the back, it will be a very small posh switch, size of ball-=point pen. If available it should restore to factory setting

you have fault oscillation you have defective parts inside. at the oscillation circuit.

Hello kd6aaj, You are on the right track, a vertical line usually means that you lost horizontal deflection which is supplied by the horizontal/High voltage section.The thing that puzzles me is that you did not lose high voltage. Let me explain. In modern TVs the horizontal section uses scan rectification or a process similar to a switching power supply to convert a lower voltage tapped off of the hoizontal/HV section to provide B+ for the rest of the television. So if you lose your Horizontal voltage you lose your B+ also. So you will never see the vertical line because you low voltage power supply if off also. Now I think your Q571 (H-Out), Q572 (H-Drive), Q551 and/or Q552 (H-Control) might be good. However check them anyway. I would also advise you to check your yoke transformer for an open or shorted winding. This would cause you to lose deflection without losing high voltage. You are definatly in the right section just add the deflection section to your scope of troubleshooting.

If you unplug the unit for an hour or overnight, it should go out of sleep mode. If this dosent work then its not in sleep mode and the set has a problem in the power supply or the sweep circuit. Sorry you should seek a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck
