Hello
The tape film has been coiled with its VCR mechanism parts and prevents the mechanism to shut OFF properly. This situation will be sensed by the main system control IC of your TV and it will shut the whole system OFF. That is happening now. To rectfy this, you have to open the unit and take out all the coiled tape film from the mechanism. In fact, the set should be deassembled as a whole. If you hav enough tools to do it, you can do it by yoursef. There is no components to be replaced. Only remove this coilde film from the mechanism OK.

Direct Code Entry
- Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
- Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
- Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
- With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand
Tv keeps going on and off every few seconds
Hello,
The power light may be flashing or if you are runing with a series light bulb it may be cycling on and off continuously. There may be a chirping or clicking sound from inside the set. (Note: using too small a series light bulb load during testing for the size of the TV may also result in this condition.)
If there is a low voltage regulator or separate switching supply, it could be cycling on and off if the horizontal output, flyback, or one of its secondary loads were defective.
Does this TV have a separate low voltage regulator and/or switching power supply or is it all part of the flyback circuit? For the following, I assume it is all in one (most common).
Some simple things to try first:
Verify that the main filter capacitor is doing its job. Excessive ripple on the rectified line voltage bus can cause various forms of shutdown behavior. An easy test is to jumper across the capacitor with one of at least equal voltage rating and similar capacitance (make connections with power off!).
Use a Variac, if possible, to bring up the input voltage slowly and see if the TV works at any point without shutting down. If it does, this could be an indication of X-ray protection circuit kicking in, though this will usually latch and keep the set shut off if excessive House Voltage were detected.
MY TV KEEPS TURNING OFF
Check the belt of the vcr maybe are on bad conditions and don't make it's function correctly
Converter box
if you do not have cable, fios or directv you will need the converter box
Tv shuts off after 10 seconds
Many times, Cam Gear in VCR gets Stuck due to its age (Loose Belt most time).
Or,
The Cassette Housing is off Track (Usually Bent, or Toys inside!!!)
Solution, if you are not all thumbs,
1) UN-PLUG first!!
2) Get Alcohol Pad Ready.
3) Open Back Cover,
4) Clean the Belt on Worm gear (Usually Side of the mechanism towrds back).
5) while at it, Make sure to Dust with Air Aerosol (like ones that you use for computer)
50% of time this will Fix the Problem!!
Sylvania 6313CB 13" TV/VCR replacemnt remote
We have a Sylvania 6313CB TV/VCR combo. I bought a universal remote and the code would not work when I tried to program it to the "TV" button using all those possible codes listed in the books. So, on the universal remote, there was a button named "VCR" and when I programmed in the code "0000" all worked. This was a $6.00 universal remote named "One For All" we bought at the Big Lots store.
Specifically, here is what I did:
Turned TV on
Pushed the "VCR" button and light blinked once
Pushed and held the "set" button until it blinked twice
Released the "set" button and entered the numbers "0000"
Pushed the on/off button and it worked including volume, channel up/down and channel change by entering the channel number.
Hope this works for you too.
Tape stuck and tv turns off
With the set unplugged remove the back and extract the main board. You'll find a metal cover over the tape housing area that is easily removed by removing some screws holding it to the board area and manipulating some wired over it... You should then be able to see the tape and what's hanging it up. If you need to unwrap tape from the pinch roller or around the guides do so carefully. When it all looks free you can either manually crank the load motor assembly to eject the tape or put it back together enough to plug it in and press eject. If you do the later be VERY careful...
Good Luck!
Bill
I have an old Sylvania tv and it won't turn on
Here are some troubleshooting tips to try. However, as it is an older set, if these tips fail, the cost of a repair at a shop might exceed the value of the TV. In short, a new TV may be in the works. Cross your fingers. One of these tips may work.
Let's troubleshoot the issue and try to get it working:
If you are using a remote, check the batteries in it. If you are using several remotes with it, try the alternative remote. Sometimes there is a glitch affecting the remote for a Roku where it won't turn on the TV other than a powered black screen and you have to use the other remote to turn it off and back on and then the Roku screen pops up. I have not sorted out why.
Check Power Cord and Connections:
First, ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into both the TV and the electrical outlet.
If you suspect a faulty power cord, consider trying a different one.
Reset the TV:
While most Sylvania TVs don't have a dedicated reset button, you can perform a manual reset:
Unplug the TV's AC adapter from the electrical socket.
Press and hold the Power button on the TV for 20 seconds.
Plug the AC adapter back in and turn on the TV.
Check Audio/Video Cables:
Inspect the audio/video cables connecting your TV to the satellite or cable receiver.
Ensure that the color-coded prongs match their respective connecting points.
Correct any mismatches (e.g., white cable into a red port) by reorganizing the prongs.
Inspect Coaxial Cable:
Look for the coaxial cable on the rear side of the receiver, attached to the port labeled as ANT IN.
Confirm that the connection is firm; a loose coaxial connection can cause display issues.
Tighten the cable by pinching the silver band on the end and rotating it clockwise until secure.
Check for Interference:
If distortion continues on the TV screen, consider nearby interference.
Power-hungry appliances can cause electronic interference, affecting display quality.
Visit a Repair Shop:
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you may need professional help.
Some technical faults, such as a blown fuse or faulty capacitor, require expertise in dismantling and soldering.
If uncomfortable with such tasks, consider visiting a repair shop

- Try Common Codes:
- Some common Sylvania TV remote codes for Philips remotes are 0810, 1684, 1886, 2183, 1081, 1172, 1196, and 2049. Try entering these codes manually.
