Well, the safest thing is to only move any photos and text docs to the D: So the 'My Documents' folder should be ok moved to the D: drive. I suggest you Google moving this folder to a different drive as you didn't specify your operating system and I only use XP.
Don't try and move any installed applications....these wont work again!
If you must move applications, (programs/software) then the only way is to firstly remove them in control-panel and reinstall them on the D: drive using your original install disks. Remember, by default programs get installed on the C: drive, so you have to 'tell' the install wizard you want it installed on the D: drive..
