Make sure the vcr is on channel 03.

Broken prism in the middle of deck or bad ir sensor on the left hand side of vcr. More than likely broken prism.

No solution just the exact same problem:Does anyone know how to fix the DVD motor? I bought this from Walmart a few years ago and after about 1-2 yrs that was the 1st thing that went on it. The VHS still plays fine. I got tired of trying to "clean" it and its been packed away for at least 2 yrs. I recenly dug it out of the closet but of course its out of warranty. Is it worth repairing (its virtually brand new) or just get something else? Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

i hope the dvd player has the RCA cables for connecting the input signals to the tv for display and sound. the cables have input jacks at its ends and the same are color coded for easy identification on where to plug it in. with the use of colour insert the yellow pin to the tv yellow input and the same to the dvd and do the same to the white and red terminal and proceed on by turning the channel to AV and play

did you mean how to connect the vcd and vcr player to the tv? if so then its simple. just get the provided rca cables and jack in in the appropriate places as the tv and the vcd/vcr are colour coded to make it easy for anybody to be able to connect.

The clicking is made by the laser head as it moves across the surface of the disk repeteadly trying to pick up the data signal and failing.
If it has used to work then it's clearly a dirt problem. If a cleaning disk has failed to work then the dust has gone all the way to the reading sensor. To clean it you will need top completely dismantle the unit access the optical mechanism, take off the cover and access the reading head - there blow with the can between the lens and the sensor then with a q-tip wipe the surface of the lens.
