I have an Emachines laptop and the disk drive

Go to start, control panel, system, hardware, device manager and see if there is a yellow exclamation mark on the CD player. If so, click on it and you will have an option to upgrade the driver. Try that and see if it helps. There will also be an option to uninstall and reinstall. You could try that as well but if you do that, make sure that it is a factory installed CD player or that you have the reinstall disk or it will not reinstall.

How do I open the

I assume that you have tried to open the drive in the usual way but it is not opening. If so, then switch your machine on, get a paper clip (preferably large) or similar and straighten it out. On the edge of the drive near the eject button there should be a very small hole. Insert the paper clip and push it in and the drive should open. If it continues to fail to open, suggest you replace it as they are now not expensive.

My disk drive will no longer read disk's

Dear lildanter:
If you have allready ruled out that the discs you are using are OK.
Then it probably is a non-functioning CD-Rom drive. They are pretty cheap nowadays so your best bet is to just replace it with a new one. The good news is that you can upgrade it to one with DVD support, so now you can play and write with DVDs.

If this helps don't forget to give the thumbs up.

My hp cd slotd donot download when I try to

Hi Papawgram,

Please provide more informaation:

What Windows version are you using?
When you insert the CD and close the CD drive, does it make any noises and please describe?
Do you have this problem with all Games or CDs when inserting them into the CD Drive r is it just this one?
When you follow the steps below what happens?

If it is making the spinning noise when you insert the CD and close the CD drive , please try by opening your My Computer/Computer when you go to -> Start Menu. Have a look at the CD drive(usually the D: or E: drive) and it should show the icon of the Game on the CD. You can start(download) the game by double click on the icon.

My DVD/CD Slot thingy is

If you mean CD/DVD/ ROM drive then you will need a paper clip. Straighten out the paper clip and push it into the hole on the front of the drive (a little pressure is involved). This will eject the tray. This is usually occurs because the gearing is getting stuck. This usually doesn't get better, only worse over time.

I have a emachines w3615

I disable the lan boot w/no pxe support in the bios and put in a new hard drive 30 gig and it is great now.

I believe the hard drive went bad and it then tried to load an os from a previous network, which caused the PXE error. The true culprit was the bad hard drive.

It sounds like something is wrong with the CD you burned. Take a paperclip and straighten it out. Open the CD rom cover flap if there is one covering it. There will be a small hole in the cd drive under the CD tray. Stick the paper clip in and push. This will release the tray. Pull the tray out manually and remove the cd, then push the tray back in gently and reboot your computer.
