I'd suggest cardboard and duct tape. The same happened to me. You can also try gluing small pieces of Velcro to fasten closed that way. To the best of my knowledge, that clip can't be replaced.

The latest firmware is v83. (This firmware is only available from Olympus - you'll have to send the camera to Olympus for servicing to get the new firmware. It probably won't be worth the effort however.)

There has never been an update for the firmware of the C5050 zoom. On Olympus they only offer some updates for Mac and Windows, to improve connection (driver) and a RAW plugin.

There are fuses inside, small SMD types. Open and bridge all SMD fuses.

While viewing the picture, press the trashcan button.

IF the stripes are on the pic and not in the monitor, your CCD is failing. It is made of many horizontal and vertical traces, the Vertical traces usually go and are a thin red line. If the lines are fatter than 1 pixel, then your CCD is exhibiting moisture ingress that is common with this camera and it is not repairable due to parts no longer made unless you want to replace the CCD chip on the daughterboard yourself.

Have you tried a firmware upgrade for your camera ?

If you have all of the pieces, you can use crazy glue to make the repair, otherwise take your camera to any camera shop where they will have access to whatever broken components need to be replaced. Regards, Joe

I believe the part you are looking for is called a "mode selector" doing a google search will reveal the way you can replace it, not very difficult, with step by step instructions. Good luck!
