hold down the finish button on the first setting the machine was used on for 30-60 seconds, 3 seconds turns it off one time but 30 seconds according to the manufacture turns it off completely. but it has to be on the setting it was first activated on, it would be the stander wash setting if it was first put on.

the problem should not be the fuse if its the sound problem, i am having the same problem with the same tv and im an electronics tech and i have yet to see whats exactly wrong. but if you do want to try a new fuse its a 4A 250v fuse but the base where the plug connects into. if i find what the exact problem is i will come back on and tell you of my findings.

How old is the TV? Are the discs you are trying original store bought ones or burnt ones?

Remove the cover on the back of the tv. Look for swollen or leaking capacitors. They kinda look like batteries. If they are bulging or leaking then that is your problem. You will have to de-solder the old ones off. Then solder the new capacitors onto the circuit board. Capacitors will cost about 20 dollars and installing them isn't that hard to do. It will fix your tv 99% of the time. So it is worth a try!

I'm assuming that you have checked that the sound is not muted. To confirm that a reset to factory settings is the next procedure: Menu - Setup - General - Factory settings. If you don't see/hear any modifications then it's a hardware defect, not something with the settings.
This happens when the tv thinks that the headphones are used. Simple test to confirm that: plug in a pair of speakers and see if you get the sound on them. If you get and the situation doesn't changes when you unplug them then this is a mechanical defect: the small switch inside the headphone jack is faulty and keeps signaling that the headphones are plugged in when they are not.
The only way to fix that is to replace the jack, which involves a very delicate soldering procedure , one that only a good repairman can do - you must call one.
