was the VHS recording before the new high definition TV was installed? Or are you trying to say that the cable company has tempered with the settings of the VHS?

Probably, the cable company, has removed the cable for the player. Check the back of the player and let me know if the cable between the player and the TV are intact.

This maybe too simplistic but are you sure you have the right command buttons toggled try to set the player to VCR and not dvd.
Set the player to VCR with a tape in it and press play. I hope this works for you

Did you finalize the disc when you finished on the Magnavox? That should do it.

I think the answer is simple. You have a DVD player with a VCR Recorder/player. You can't record to a DVD Player. Sorry

the reason is because your dvd player inside got caught on something in side and now won't work for your disc it might even be off track...

This sounds like a problem with the mechanism of your player,it is probably stuck.

What you should do is to open up the player and try to open the door with your hand by pulling it,check to see what is stopping it from opening and clear the object stopping the door from opening automatically

Please note that it might just require oiling the door wheel to make the door open and close automatically.

Yes you have to plug the red and white video cords before your movie can play.

You can connect your DVD directly to your television, then after seeing a movie you can reconnect your cable, since you cant see the movie and the cable at the same time.

But if you want to see a movie from your DVD using the dvr player, then you have to connect the audio-video out from your DVD to the dvr players audio-video in, then connect your dvr players audio-video out to your televisions audio-video in, then you ensure you get the proper frequency channel on the dvr player where you can view the DVD player from.

Then you can watch a movie on the DVD using the dvr player.

Sounds like the tracking unit failed on you. This would cost more to fix it then the unit is even worth sitting right now. You can grab one of these units for under $75 bucks. For what its worth you might want to try to clean it with a kit but I feel this error is more serious then a cleaning kit can handle.

Hi, if ithere is no button on the front of the unit or on the remote, then simply setting the unit to standby with either power button should make the unit enter the timer record mode. (This will be indicated with TIMER or a small red clock symbol in the display providing all the conditions have ben met. i..e clock & timer correctly set, tape in machine, etc)

Try unplugging your unit for several minutes to see if you can reset the brain inside.

Additionally, try loading a tape and then ejecting it to clear the problem.

Try entering the model number here to see if the model is available. Full model number is printed on the tag at the back of your combo.

Either ebay or just in internet explorer type in the tv model and "remote", and you should get many places taht have them. Replacment remotes is a big thing.

Measure scope signal on IR reciever and the 5V line on IR receiver.Probably the reciever is dead.

That means that lens are dirty.

Try first cleaning the lens with a DVD cleaner disk. If you can access the lens you can also blow some canned air on the lens.

If that does not work, then the unit must be disassembled by unscrewing the screws at the bottom and at the back to access the lens pickup and clean lens directly with cotton tips and isopropyl software.

I had same problem since 3 years after moving from dubai to bucharest i believed that my home theater was damaged during transportation. I tryed all repair shops in my area but no luck, so i used it as a simple mp3 player at home.

Last week, after 3 years, i changed my old CRT tv with an LG LS3000 lcd tv and SURPRISE...my dvd have colours again.

Your FIOS box is typically a Motorola Digital Cable Tuner. In order to record from the VCR your FISO will have control of the tuner, not the vcr. If your FIOS has two video outputs on it for video (av connections), one should be plugged into you tv set and the other should be plugged into the VCR input. Your cable tuner will have to be set for the channel you wish to record ahead of time while the VCR tuner has to be set to record the line input at whatever time you wish to record. If your FISO has one video output line (av connections), your VCR has to be set to channel 3 when you record (provided that is the channel your FISO box is set for when viewing TV over the coax cable) and you will have to attach the coaxial output from the FISO into the coax input of your VCR.

The only way around this is to get a splitter and split the coax line so that the FIOS is connected to the coax as it is now and the VCR is connected to a seperate line using the coax input, however using this configuration will prevent you from recording digital channels. If you have a cable ready VCR, it will probably only recognize channels up to 150.

If you really want to get it to record digital channels without the hassles find out if Verizon has a FISO box with DVR to it or connect a Tivo to your FISO. Tivo will tune the FSIO when it records and it's very user friendly to use.
