You have standby 5vdc but you need to find out if the processor board is sending out the PS_ON to the power supply to turn on the 12 and 24vdc power supply section.

If you do not get the sound on all modes.
We need to find out if the problem is in the power amplifiers section or in the sound processing section, but first please check the sound set up menu to verify that the speakers are not set to OFF.
Hook up a set of powered PC speakers to the audio line out to see if you do get the sound OK, if not, then the problem is in the audio processing section which will require main board to be replaced, very expensive, if you do get the sound OK, the the problem is in the power amp section which some time it is also part of the main board.

Hello sir, hi, Most simple problems like this is caused by loose screws and wiring, if still no changes resulted have your TV check for the power inverter circuit that powers the back light.

Kit available to fix this. New thermal pads for AV board. Find shop who has done lots of these

or hdmi if your dvd has it

You have a power supply issue and or a luminous tube (florescent ).
There also may be a LCD issue which points to a repair at the board level. A tech will be able to determine this with test where the issue is on the main board.

Take a strong light and put it up against the screen. Do you see a faint image? if yes, then your backlight has failed. Could be a lamp, inverter or power supply issue. Not for DIY'ers.

my tv stays on standby

If you are using an HDMI cable the sound and audio will be in the same connector. If you are not then you must run an audio (stereo both L + R) cable from your satellite receiver to the audio input of your television.

If you are using a S-Video cable it only carries the picture and not sound.
In that case it also requires an audio cable as well as a video cable.

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the audio with a DVD player or cable box. Also try using component cables if using a RCA component cable or vice versa. Check that all of the cables are plugged into the back of the TV & MUTE button is not pressed. Do a hard reset by unplugging the power cord for more than 4 hours and power it again, then go into the on-screen-menu and make sure the sap is off and stereo in on. Also try audio from Phone and 3.5mm jacks (if equipped). If this all didn't resolves the issue then it is an Audio IC or bad speakers/speaker connection. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved else revert for further assistance.

You seem to have a power supply problem.
I`m going to help you with it but first could you confirm that your tv is a sharp aquos LC-37G4U ?

This seems to be a common problem. I have the same issue. Repair man says its a power supply (he thinks). When the lights start blinking, press the power button on top of the tv (not the remote) and most of the time it will come on and work. I am going to try to replace my power supply and see if that fixes the issue. If so, I will update this post.
