Sharp XL-MP130 CD Mini Audio System. Why does the standby light blink 4 short blinks and one long blink on my xlmp130 stereo

Question edited for clarity, full 'make model (what it is)'. Question moved from televisions Found this on Fixya Anonymous Aug 14, 2009 OK here it is right from Sharp's service center support. The unit is reporting power surge and if the usual unplugging does not fix it then there is damage to the power unit. I mentioned that all fuses were OK but they still say that the fuses being intact does not eliminate the supply from damage The flashing lights are operating from the low voltage part of the power supply but the main transformer is what is damaged. The buttons are operated from this transformer and as they do not respond then this is the area of damage to the supply. The unit will have to be taken to a service center. If you are in Australia check a service centre near you from here http://support.sharp.net.au/default.asp?... https://www.google.com/search?q=xlmp130+stereo%2C+blink+codes ..

Discs in my Sharp XL-Mp130 stop playing I have used a cd lens cleaner...still not working properly

Are you using a dry lens cleaner or one you put fluid on the brushes ? Place a small amount of isophrofyl alcohol on the small brushes of the lens cleaner and run this through 2-3 times. If problem still exists it's probably the laser, your options are to check online (google it) or drop into a stereo repair shop for a replacement. May turn out getting a new system is the cheaper and better idea as labor costs can be expensive.

Timer light blinks ....- (four shorts and a long).

First, try unplugging the unit for a couple of hours. That should reset the internal microprocessor. If that fails, try pushing all of the buttons one at a time. If one of them is stuck, nothing will work properly. You should be able to feel the button working.

There is also a reference in troubleshooting in the manual between page 37-39 which i assume you have already consulted. It does recommend turning off and unplugging for up to 5 hours and then reconnecting and using the button sequence to clear memory.

Unit will not come on, but timer button is

Well, it thinks it's set to come on under Timer control.

Get the manual out (or go to retrevo.com, register and download it for free) and go to page 34 and cancel the timer.

Canceling the timer setting in the timer stand-by mode:
1 Press the CLOCK/TIMER button.
2 Within 10 seconds, press the or button to select
"ONCE" or "DAILY", and press the MEMORY/SET button.
3 Within 10 seconds, press the or button to select
"ONCE OFF" or "DAILY OFF", and press the MEMORY/SET button.
Timer will be canceled (the setting will not be canceled).

My sharp XLMP 130 all of a sudden started blinking

The problem is with the "power on" relay (RL841) located on the power supply board. Unplug the unit and take off the side panel and top cover. Remove the screws to remove the CD changer. There is a small black rectangular relay just below where the AC cord is soldered onto the PC board. Carefully remove (actually break it off carefully and gently & throw away) the plastic top housing of the relay. Plug in the unit and with a pencil or stick, manually actuate the coil armature while pressing the power on button on the front of the unit. I can almost assure you your unit will return to normal operation. Put it all back together and you're done. The blinking red 4 times followed by a long pulse indicates a power failure. The start up capacitor had drained and couldn't provide enough voltage to pull the relay coil in all the way.
