Sharp XL-MP130 CD Shelf System Questions & Answers
Discs in my Sharp XL-Mp130 stop playing I have used a cd lens cleaner...still not working properly
Are you using a dry lens cleaner or one you put fluid on the brushes ? Place a small amount of isophrofyl alcohol on the small brushes of the lens cleaner and run this through 2-3 times. If problem still exists it's probably the laser, your options are to check online (google it) or drop into a stereo repair shop for a replacement. May turn out getting a new system is the cheaper and better idea as labor costs can be expensive.
Timer light blinks ....- (four shorts and a long).
First, try unplugging the unit for a couple of hours. That should reset
the internal microprocessor. If that fails, try pushing all of the
buttons one at a time. If one of them is stuck, nothing will work
properly. You should be able to feel the button working.
There is also a reference in troubleshooting in the manual between page 37-39 which i assume you have already consulted. It does recommend turning off and unplugging for up to 5 hours and then reconnecting and using the button sequence to clear memory.

My sharp XLMP 130 all of a sudden started blinking
The problem is with the "power on" relay (RL841) located on the power supply board. Unplug the unit and take off the side panel and top cover. Remove the screws to remove the CD changer. There is a small black rectangular relay just below where the AC cord is soldered onto the PC board. Carefully remove (actually break it off carefully and gently & throw away) the plastic top housing of the relay. Plug in the unit and with a pencil or stick, manually actuate the coil armature while pressing the power on button on the front of the unit. I can almost assure you your unit will return to normal operation. Put it all back together and you're done. The blinking red 4 times followed by a long pulse indicates a power failure. The start up capacitor had drained and couldn't provide enough voltage to pull the relay coil in all the way.
