LVM-37w1 after 5 minutes of viewing, picture and
I saw this fix posted on another blog by a fellow named Patrick. I tried it today and it it worked. It fixed my Westinghouse lvm-37w1. Basically disassemble the back of the TV (removing all the screws on the edges and middle). Remove screws holding bottom speaker and stand. There are 2 chrome rods extending down. There are small screws inside holding them on. You can turn the rods and unscrew the screws but need a small screw driver to put them back on. Remove the black cover on the back. remove the plates on the lower middle section. You will expose a printed circuit card. unplug wires and unscrew 4 screws holding it in. Remove it, turn it upside down and inspect the solder joints near the lower middle (especially under the gray relay on the other side). I found 4 solder joints that were cracked. Resolder the larger solder joints that are cracked or look bad (small solder joints are too delicate). Put it back to gether and it should work now. Mine works great. No more black screen with no sound.
After about 10 min. screen goes blank like power
You might want to check the sleep timer, it may be ON and set for 10 min. Go to the OnScreen Menu to get to this setting. Also, you could be nearing the end of your "relationship". There may be an internal board problem that may mean a trip to the TV doctor.
New 37 in. tv conn. to cable not hdtv i have
According to all the tech sheets I can see, this unit has no Tuner. If your using the cable box to change channels it probably doesn't support HDTV, except maybe for the individual channels. You might be able to access your TV's on-screen menu to change the way programs are displayed.

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
- No video, Power light is on or blinking.
- TV is making a clicking noise.
- TV takes a while to come on
- Screen is very dim or flickers.

Westinghouse LCD TV turns off after 3 sec, sound
Hello Robert,
It sounds like your inverter board might have gone out. What you need to do is purchase the inverter board (your unit might have two master, and slave) and swap the board out. Some good places to find the board is
www.shopjimmy.com, or
www.invertercentral.com, to find the correct part # you can open the unit and the board is immediately visible, it is a long green board on the left side of the TV.
