Try a different pedal. If that does not work try replacing the input jack.

Casio CDP has Auto Power Off: 30 minutes after last key operation, Auto Power Off can be disabled.
Please read the manual.

If it turns itself off while playing, I would try to buy a new AC Adapter to test. DC cable of AC adapters are often broken internally after much "bending".

You need first of all to remove the cover, access the keybed, remove from keyboard base and then you will be able to remove a key - it is impossible without following this procedure.

This doesn't answer your question directly but may help if you decide to get another pedal.
I had a Casio keyboard for a while, and found that the polarity of the sustain pedal was the reverse of that on most other makes. This meant that when I bought another pedal (not Casio), it sustained when not depressed, and did not when depressed. To correct this all I did was to cut the cable near the pedal, reverse the wires, solder them back and cover with nice electrical tape.

By the way if you use SEABOARD or MAINSTAGE then there's a different trick (avoiding cutting wires) on this link:

If this wasn't completely useless then please give this a good mark! Thanks.

Sounds like you are overloading the capabilities. Basically, you have too many notes sounding at once. It doesn't have a massive amount of polyphony.

If you open up the case and look at the rear of the keys, I expect you will see that there is a small spring connected to the rear of each key. i suspect the unit was dropped in transit and some of these springs have popped off. If so, just reattach them using a pair of needle nose pliers. If however it was dropped hard enough to break the fingers that the springs attach to you'll have to replace those keys. This may be a repair shop job. it may also not be cost effective to do the job. Good Luck!

There is a test mode :
Hold down 0 1 2 whilst turning on
Not sure however if there is a factory reset option in the test menu
