Errors 440 / 441 / 442/ 443 / 444
An error occurred during transmission after one or more partial pages had been sent. The transmitting machine was unable to restart the control channel (handshaking) before sending more data. This error typically occurs when the receiving fax disconnects after receiving part of a page but can also occur if the receiving fax is using a fax format that is incompatible with the HP fax machine (usually during color faxing). RESOLUTION: * Reattempt the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.
This issue has more to do with the receiving end and/or the telephone line conditions.
Things to check from your end:
Make sure that the phone cord is plugged directly from the wall jack into the back port of the fax machine that is marked "Line" or "To Wall Jack", or that has a wall-jack symbol.
Verify that the line interface unit (LIU) (the box that the phone cord plugs into) is seated fully into the back of the fax.
Remove any other device from the line such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering machines, and retry the fax communication.
Try sending and receiving faxes on a different fax line.
Try using a different telephone cord.
Have the phone company test your line for static or noise problems.
Disable Error Correction Mode (ECM) if the same error occurs repeatedly.
Thank you for using FixYa.
Have a great day.

You probably have the wrong phone line going to your fax machine. The wire you have going to your fax machine has two lines in it. So when you send a fax it's going out on your voice line. You can go to Radio Shack and get a part that splits the two lines that are in the phone wire so you can select the correct line for your fax machine. the part is http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3900035
If you have an answering machine, have it answer at three rings. Have the fax answer at five rings. Let the answer machine go thru it's cycle, and see if the fax picks up.
Belt is $15-$25 and labor will be $50 - $75...depending on where you take it. Here is a diagram with part numbers if you would like to try and replace it yourself !
turn fax machine off open cover and put 3 drops of 3 in 1 oil on the the big silver bar the ink cartridges ride along perform alignment and try to recieve fax if this doesnt work clean all the rubber feed rollers with isopropanol alcohol (rubbing alcohol) applied to a microfiber towel then try.
Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Clear the jammed paper: Open tray 2 and remove any jammed paper. Open the rear door and look for and clear any paper present or obstructions in the paper path. Open rear cover. Clear Jam. Close the rear door to allow the printer to attempt to clear the jam message.
Check the fuser unit: If clearing the jammed paper doesn't resolve the issue, it's possible that the paper is stuck in the fuser unit or that the fuser exit sensor is broken. In this case, you will need to remove covers, flat bed scanner, and fuser to check for any obstructions .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz9cTnbuDbw
