105,000 mile service maintenance is recommended

The oil HAS to be a "3309" oil. Mobil 1 makes one, Volvo sells their really expensive version, and then there's the cheapest (but just as good) alternative of the Toyota Type IV oil, usually $6/quart at the Toyota dealer. Yes, you can't just drain all the oil as the automatic holds a lot in the torque converter and the lines are full too. I disconnected the top oil hose from the radiator to the transmission and connected a hose to it. Then I put the hose in a gallon jug and started the car. When the jug was half full (two quarts) I turned off the engine and filled up with two fresh quarts. I repeated this until the transmission pumped out oil of the same color that I poured in. This took about 12-13 quarts. Reconnect the line to the radiator and then the other tricky part is ensuring the oil level is correct. This is done with HOT oil. YOu have to make sure you have enough oil to show in the 'normal' field on the oil stick, then drive the car for 20 minutes to ensure it's good and hot, then park on level ground and shift through all the gears while staying in each gear for about 3 seconds. Put it in park and check the level. It takes very little to get from the bottom of the stick to the top, so be cautious when topping off if you're low. If you add oil, run through the gears for 3 seconds each again before checking. Ideally, you'd use VIDA (Volvo software) and DiCE (the ODBII interface) to reset the oil change counter in the transmission computer too, but most people don't do that and still have no issues. All this took me about 3 hours at home, but I'm slow. A mechanic is probably faster. :D

It was recommended by a local mechanic to use

if no oil leaks due to thin oil .then it will be ok. turbo like to burn oil .so should check the oil every day before driving.if you start to get a lot of ticking noise from your tappets then use a thicker oil.

Can u get the code off the serial no on the radio

If the Volvo dealer cannot supply your code then your only option now is to remove it from the dashboard and take it into a Decoding Service.(or your local Car Radio / Audio Store )

They will connect it up to a laptop and electronically read / recode the security memory chip (EEPROM)

CD player says Cd Error

What you might want to try is to run a CD player cleaner disc through it; if it is a problem caused by a dirty head or pickup, this sometimes helps. CD cleaner discs are available at Wal-mart or any electronics store.

If this does not help, the CD player will need to be sent to service center
