RCA Lyra RD2840 Player quit, now will not turn on at all
Unfortunately, the RD2800 Lyra family (RD2825, RD2826 an RD2840) mp3 players have a frequent problem in the battery circuitry, and there are two tiny integrated circuits that are shorted very frequent.

The repair involves to opn it, and replace the damaged integrated cicuits. Only a qualified technician with tools and parts cando it.
RCA approved repair centers charge $125.00 for such repair.
If you will look for a cheapest way to fix it, you can contact in ebay to the seller with ID Great_items_2004

Check in ebay.
Also, you can get one in RadioShack. Only confirm the following:
1. AC power adapter with 5V @ 1.5Amps (minimum current, but it may be 2 Amps as well).
2. Plug tip type H
3. The center conductor is the positive contact.

Ok often the Battery will take a Looonnnggg time to charge up especially if real flat... Try leaving it overnight.. and see how ya go after it has been charging all night at least 12hours anyway... else try a replacement Battery/Power supply.. Also to test take Batt out, and connect up to the Wall PSU see if that goes if it does then it is just ya Batt.. else it's either ya Power Supply or Motherboard .. Good Luck

Besides to buy an AC power adapter, you will need to repair the MP3 player too.
The power adapter is cheap in on-line companies (such as Ebay), but still you will need to have serviced your mp3 player.
There are a couple of integrated circuit parts in the battery charging circuitry that are damaged when the impropoer voltage is used.
If you need further assistance to have serviced your mp3 player, after explore different local options, please contact Ebay seller ID Great_tems_2004

Have you tried updating the firmware? It is available on the RCA website.
Screen says battery is full, but wont turn on
I read somewhere that even with a functional lyra, when it displays "battery full", you should keep charging for another hour. This is said to extend battery life and give you an extra 2-3 hours of power.
Either this is perfectly normal, or it indicates that the battery reading tends to be inaccurate. In any case, try leaving it charging even after it gives you the message.
Another thing to consider is, how long has it been in the box?
I'm not sure about lithiums, but most rechargeables I know live longer when used. Live it alone for too long and you shorten it's life.
Could be good to get a second opinion on this battery thing though.
If there's a warranty, don't let it waste.
Good luck
