Black screen with sound

A couple of things to try, Ist does the set work normally with a DVD etc connected to a rear input, if you are using a box for signal disconnect it and the set from power for a while and power both back. The DVD idea is to know if problem is not present via the rear inputs and rules some things in or out, if set works that way there may be a simple way around the problem. If when you call up the menu it is there, that comes from a different area inside the set and is generated within the set--still it is good news.

Rca p61927 no sound with tv

First you have to check that the button-internal external speakers are in the right place, that's in the back of the TV. If there is still the problem, the audio output is faulty. Need to change audio IC. Perhaps you need technical assistance, that is a bit difficult to change IC. If you have further questions, do not hesitate I'm here to help. thanks

Do you have a dog?
I ask this because I once had a Bouvier/Briard cross, and once, a hair of his got stuck in front of the lamp.
Try turning the TV off, and using either compressed air or a vacuum, try to stir things up around the lamp compartment (though be careful not to knock anything around, or if using compressed air, don't aim at any components directly).

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

TV works fine, but is

Hi,

Are the TV's on screen menus in black and white also?

If yes,
I would first suspect the color wheel. The color wheel is a rotating wheel with several different colored segments. If it stops spinning, you will not get color.

To check the color wheel you would need to remove the back of the TV and do a little bit of investigation.

Is this something you can do or are you just looking for a rough repair cost?

I would however check to see if your wheel is rotating. There's a possibility that it is and your DMD board is faulty.

Be advised that this is completely a professional job. If you have experience in repairing the projection TV's, revert and i would be able to provide few more pointers.

The cost of color wheel would be around $100.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
