This is a common problem that is called a convergence failure. You can google "RCA FL231" or goto www.TvRepairKits.com for a fix

Google the model number if sony with 5 blinks--you have it posted here as a rca set.

a good experienced tech might be able to do it for you .  other than that you will have to replace the SSB

I would say it cannot be programmed.If me, I would GOOGLE THE MODEL NUMBER (ON BACK OF SET) TO LOCATE AN EXACT (NOT UNIVERSAL) REMOTE FOR THIS SET---should be lots of them at a reasonable price out there.

If attached photos look like what it does it is a convergence problem common in the RCA sets.Frankly I do not like these sets and if You GOOGLE the model number with "convergence" or "problems" you will a ton of them with that problem.The real trouble is most sets (even the early RCA) have the convergence circuit almost 100% on one board and use one or two chips for this.This set has it spread across two or three boards and all the parts are RCA only.Considering how poorly made that set is I would not if someone gave me one take it or repair it.The photos will tell you if it is your problem--no two sets look exactly the same but you will know from the pictures if it is your trouble.

hello!Have you tried to toggle "format" or "screen size"? On those sets non HD and HD settings could be adjusted separately. Try that, first. If no luck, try similar settings on PS3. I bet, you will be able to match screen format there, as well. To me it looks, like picture formats are mismatched. Also: try to use "component" cables, instead of DVI adapter cable, if nothing works.good luck,Alex.

you have a high voltage flyback transformer that probly went bad I have seen this problem before and that is the problem most of the time it is not a easy fix but depending on how old the tv is it is worth fixing! You need to call a shop and have them come out and fix it.

Often they can be soldered back onto the tuner. But the tuner itself may need replacement which you can get tuners and the entire SSB which has the tuners already on them from www.tvrepairworld.com

that sounds like failed capacitors on the deflection board CP150, CP120 and CP114 capacitors. You can get the RCA repair kit with the same name from www.tvrepairworld.com which contains the caps and the CD with repair instructions

This TV does not have a bulb! it has 3 tubes Green, Red and Blue.

Do you have cable with remote or buy a universal remote program the t.v. in the remote from the numbers they give you in the book that comes with remote then just push the left or right button on the remote and it will change formats.

Vertical Deflection problem...either a bad chip (TDA 8177) or bad connection on the pins of the chip. You have to turn the deflection board upside down by unpluging and unclipping the plastic clips to solder. If soldering does not fix you will need to change the chip and possibly a 100mfd capacitor next to the chip. The chip is located just to the right of the high voltage transformer on a metal heat sink. Has 7 pins 4 in one row and 3 in the other row protruding out and then down into the board

most likely its the CP150, CP120 and CP114 capacitors on the deflection board. if the tops of either one is swelled up they need replacement, as they should be completely flat on top. I am attaching a pic so you can check. If they are you can get the RCA CP150, CP120 and CP114 repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the caps and the CD with repair instructions.

Thats usually caused by failed Capacitors CP150, CP120 and CP114 on the deflection board. You can get the RCA repair kit by that same name from www.tvrepairworld.com which also has repair instructions that fixes that issue in most cases.

You have bad grounds on the power supply board. There will be many of these on the bottom of this main board. The board I speak of has a large black transformer with two red wires coming out of it. When you pull this board out, inspect the underside for bad solder grounds. There may be some bad capacitors. Cl004 (25 volt 1 Mf) is bad. CLO23,( 25 volts at 1Mfs) is bad. CP150 (16 volts at 2200Mf) ,CP140 (16 volts at 1000Mf) and CP120 (50 volts at 220 Mfs) should be replaced.Oh yes! CL36 which is a 250 volt at 2.2Mfs is bad, replace this as well. The clues in this info should give you a fix. It is quite challenging to remove repair and replace this board. With patience it can be done! Thanks for asking and show all hands of support.
