How to log in to router

Open an internet browser, in the address area type in 192.168.0.1 (this is the normal address used by the router). Once the router access screen appears try usinfg the factory default login USER = ADMIN, PASSWORD = MOTOROLA.If this does not work you can try using the reset button on the rear of the router to reset it's setting to factory default settings and try the above method again.NOTE: If you are unsure about anything you can also try asking your ISP how to access the router settings. (If you received the router from an ISP). Otherwise use the manual at this internet location for more information. http://www.midcocomm.com/_files/files/SBG6580.pdf

The receiving button on my Motorola SBG6580 is

Its supposed to be blue. Blue means you're getting a "bonded" channel signal. If it was green you would one be getting a single channel. It's in the manual and box. The PDF is available from Motorola as well. Google does wonders.

In need of a user manual for SBG6580 wireless

The User Manuals for many of the Motorola modems and gateways are available from Motorola on their support site: http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Consumer-Support/Cable-Modems-and-Gateways . Select your model. On the next page, use the drop down menu to select User Manual in the Select A Topic drop-down menu. Then click Search. The direct link to the manual for the SBG6580 is http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Support/US-EN/Home-and-Office/Cable-Modems-and-Gateways/SBG6580-SURFboard-Wireless-Cable-Modem-Gateway/Documents/Static-Files/SURFboard_SBG6580_UserGuide.pdf . Note you will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the file.

I hope this helps.

I have a motorola sgb6580, I want to turn on WEP,

Hi, Although there is some reference to WEP as a security function it appears that they have upgraded their device away from allowing it any more. So old hardware could, but software programming to make it work is missing. Here is there manual (http://www.midcocomm.com/_files/files/SBG6580.pdf) and page 22 references the allowable types and WEP is not one of them. Yet there is documentation which appears to be out of date with the product. Sorry, GL hope this helps Don
