If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, usually one is able to download if available, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers, for spare parts and service, Driver downloads and Installation Instructions as required.

This is the best way of ensuring up to date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!

There are no XP drivers to be found with Microsoft as XP is no longer supported.

Some manufacturers may have a limited number of Drivers still listed.

go to the device manager (right click my computer - properties - hardware tab - device manager button)

look under sound devices, if there are any yellow question marks you need the approprate sound driver device driver, go to the manafacturers website for it, or find the original utility disks that came with the laptop to re-install the driver

if it has its drivers, check the sound devices in sound options (control panel - sounds and audio devoces) and make sure the playback device is set to the default and hasent been changed to something that is no longer connected to the laptop.

Sometimes I have problems with this on my laptop. Simply opening and closing the screen fully once or twice works for me. If this doesn't work I had a laptop where I had to completely take it apart and something was pinching the display connector and keeping it from working.

If the HDD is not the Primary HDD in your computer. a spare HDD, If the HDD is compatible with your computer interface you can install as a slave/second/primary, depending on the interface/pin outs, or load a different OS on it if you wish and have a Dual-Boot. If it's a second drive in your computer, Open Start Menu, Computer, Select the HDD, just right click and format ,select File System.

You may have to use the XP drivers . there may not be drivers developed yet for the Windows 7.
The manufacturer is the one who supplies compatible drivers to run with the operating system.

Go to the control panel and find the system folder then find the device manager then find your sound card and you can load the driver from there. Also make sure your sound is not muted.

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press delete to enter setup Press and hold delete during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart then once you have your computer running try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive then you might test all leads that are attached from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) or just replace them there probably old and faulty hope this helps
