We want to progam a universal remote for our new Daeynyx LCD - TV, MODEL DN-26D, We have tried several universal remotes but no luck. Now we bought a Phillips Universal Remote but can not seem to get the right code. We tried all 300!!! Please help us find the correct code, thanks
Your TV is made by Daewoo and is distributed by Daytek. If you call the 800 number on the warranty card you will reach Daytek.
So, what you need to know is this:
#1. A lot of new products won't have a website available. That does not
say anything to their quality or the company, just that you've bought a
new product and you're one of the first purchasers.
#2. A lot of times if you buy a "no name" TV, you're actually getting
components inside the TV that are made by brand name manufacturers. For
example, "Prima" uses LG panels in some of their plasma TVs (as well as
Daytek). How do I know this? Because I'm the authorized service
provider for Daytek, and Prima and quite a few other "no name" TVs, and
I've been working on LCD and Plasma since they came out, as well as
having worked in the electronics repair industry for over 20 years. I
own an Insignia 42" LCD and am quite happy with it.
#3. Most new products that have remote controls will not have codes
available for them no matter what brand of universal remote you buy.
You have to wait for the people who make the universal remote to have
time to make a code for this new brand of TV. This can take up to a
year for cable companies, and cheaper universal remotes may never get
the code. Expensive universal remotes may be able to have their
firmware updated through the internet, so adoption of new codes for new
products may happen faster.
#4. Stores like Walmart and Costco are excellent places to buy products
like this because they usually have a "no questions asked" return
policy if you get the TV back to the store within the stores time limit
for returns (some stores are 15 days, some are 30 days, phone the store
and ask them). I had purchased a 40" Digistar LCD TV from Walmart what
had a flickering problem, I took it back the next day without any
problem at all. Then I bought a 42" Insignia Plasma TV from Future Shop
that I wasn't happy with. I took it back 3 days later and had no
problem at all. As long as you know the stores policy for returns and
follow the policy, you won't have any problems either.
#5. Try to avoid buying big-ticket items from smaller stores unless you
know their return policies. Some smaller stores will not accept returns
on LCD monitors, TVs or plasma TVs but instead require you to
handle any problems through the manufacturer.
#6. Best bet it to call Daytek and ask them if they know of any universal remotes that work on that particular model.

Recently I purchased 3 RCA digital TV converter boxes. When I installed it on my 36 inch Toshiba TV, the reception kept going out. We tried adjusting the rabbit ears antenna to no avail. The instruction manual stated that if the reception did not improve with adjusting the antenna, we would need to purchase a "Smart Antenna".
Please tell me what kind (brand names, types, etc )of antenna that is and approximately how much it will cost.
Thank you for any help you can give me on this.
First, you don't need a Smart Antenna, the manual is simply stating that your converter will use one if you have it. Any standard antenna will work, so there is no need for a coupon to pay for a new one, whether indoor or outdoor depending on your location and distance from each channel transmission tower. Since you don't give details of what antenna you are using, I will assume you have rabbit ears for each converter. Rabbit ears are notorious for poor reception and any metal or persons nearby will change the reception quality. I would recommend a roof mounted external antenna with splitters for the 3 converters if you have the option. If not, use an amplified internal antenna and mount it closest to the channel towers you will watch most and as high as possible. If you can find a smart antenna, which is an amplified indoor/outdoor antenna with a control cable for changing the direction of reception, for a decent price, you can use that but keep in mind that to use the control feature you will need one for each converter. Also, check antennaweb.org for information on digital channels in your area and their direction and distance. Antennaweb.org will also tell you if any digital channel in your area uses VHF frequencies. If they don't then a UHF only antenna will work fine.

RCA UNIVERSAL REMOTE RCR312W
I can help. I too have an RCR312W remote and it did not work.
I found this code on bobvila.com message board. The code from the RCR311W remote works.
1) turn on unit
2) press and hold componet button on remote (TV, VCR, etc)
until On/Off lights up
3) press and hold On/Off while holding component button. Light will go out. Continue hoding both buttons until light comes back on.
4) release both buttons. On/Off should stay on.
5) Press On/Off repeatedly until unit turns off.
6) Press the Stop key at bottom.
7) light goes off. Remote is programmed!
