Delete photos or videos (videos take up heaps of memory)
Does it have external memory ?
Maybe move apps or files to external if it is telling you internal memory is full.

I would try a factory reset. Make sure you back up all data as it will be lost. If that doesn't work the a new battery would be next. If it continues to act up then you have a hardware problem and it needs to be repaired.

Samsung Galaxy... | Answered on Aug 19, 2016

On your phone there should be a backup option if you forgot your password, you can then follow the instructions and get access to your phone
Or you could reset your phone by following these steps (CAUTION: THIS METHOD WILL ERASE EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE)'

Samsung Galaxy S6: overheating issue:

Hello. I am a former Samsung FSR (Field Service Rep)

Please consider what you have first. Your Galaxy S6 is a powerful device, like a Lamborghini with a powerful V12 engine. If you run it hard for several hours, it runs hot. The smaller electronics they are.. the hotter it will run ~ and remember it has no fan. It does have a heat sink, but it's nothing like the S7's new heat-pipe.

Just like your computer which will run hot when you play intense graphic games, this is no different on a high end Android device.

It is the nature of all mobile devices to get hot. Meaning no one thing will help you make your phone stay cool if you play intense games, or use Facebook for long periods of time. All devices will have similar experiences.

You just have to learn to live with it.. Things you can do to help lessen the heat issue on your S6:

Lessen the energy output your phone puts out by:

1. decrease the amount of color shown on the screen. You have an AMOLED screen, use it to your advantage.. meaning if you have black color on the screen, those black pixels will actually be off saving you battery life. install Null Black Wallpaper (no color black background instead of colorful wallpaper or a photo). the less energy outputted, the less heat outputted
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.rocboronat.android.wallpaper.npe&hl=en

2. any apps on screen: put them in folders (less color on screen the better), delete any blank desktop screens you don't need, remove any widgets on the desktop screen you don't use (all this uses up battery)

3. turn off any options you are not using: If you are playing a game and you don't have to be connected online turn off WiFi, GPS, bluetooth, multi window, screen rotation, NFC (any of these on but not in use, uses battery and causes heat)

4. in google play store>left side menu>settings: turn off Auto-update apps (if left on when you are playing games it could actively be updating another app(s) without your knowledge causing heat.. at your control you can update your apps at will whenever you want

5. if you don't use an Micro USB OTG cable to female USB, get one they are like less than $5 on ebay.. and get a USB flash drive.. any files, photos, documents, movies, songs you have stored on your phone, move them over to your USB storage stick. Keep the camera saving photos to the phone storage because it makes the camera act faster. when you finish taking photos, move them over to the USB stick. when you leave your device with open storage your intense games will have more freedom to use your device storage rather than having to search through the mess of files you have on it, and making it work less will also decrease heat buildup [i recommend a USB flash drive that is at least shock resistant, water resistant would also be nice. all flash drives and SD cards are fragile whereas you could corrupt the drive/card just by dropping it. a 16GB will go a long way.. i don't recommend storing data on these types of memory for long periods (years), better to burn it to a DVD if you need it archived

6. install All-in-One Toolbox to use: Clean, Boost, RAM Quick Boost functions frequently before and after doing anything intense to help make more room for your memory hungry apps. when your phone starts getting hot use the Toolbox>CPU Cooler in this app.. in this section you can also go to "Boot Speedup" and disable any apps that you do not use and it will disable those apps preventing them from loading into memory when you restart your phone.. be careful what you choose, some system apps need to load.. if you turn it off not understanding that it needs to be enabled you can make your phone crash when it needs to call upon it.. i recommend not disabling any System Apps, and any Samsung/cellular provider apps if you do not know what they are/do

7. learn to wipe your partition cache on your device.. this will help the phone react better.. do this any time the phone starts acting up or at least once a year. Any updates that happen on your device.. after they update.. all those files still remain on the phone. partition wiping it will help clear those unneeded files out making the phone work less hard = less heat

8. turn off S-Voice will make your phone respond faster.. when S-Voice is open, Go to the 3 dots in upper right corner>select Settings>uncheck open via home key

9. turn off Google Cards.. Open Google app>Settings>disable show cards

10. Enable Samsung Power Saving mode when needed.. in settings enable "Restrict performance on" and when needed use Grayscale mode.. switching between what you need can save your battery life.. if you are gaming, i don't recommend turning on Grayscale because it limits your ability visually

11. If you didn't already, enable Developer Options:
Where is the Developer options in the Settings on the S6
change the following selections to 0.5%:
a. Window animation scale
b. Transition animation scale
c. Animator duration scale

12. use a good case with your device that doesn't restrict any of the holes.. the more away your body is to the back of the phone the less you will feel the heat.. and the less your body heat will react with the phone..

13. Remember that if you have too many text messages on your phone.. that can slow down your device and cause heat issues playing intense games.. every time your phone is running, all those text messages are in memory.. texts within the threads count toward the limit of 2,000 max on older phones.. i've seen newer phones with 10-30,000 text messages on them because they have more access to RAM to begin.. the more anything you have on your phone that's just taking up space will slow down your CPU causing heat, wasting battery, and slowing the device down. if you make backup copies of your text messages using Kies, remember that they are compressed and you won't have access to them unless you restore them to your phone.. a better way that i use is to create readable txt message PDF books that can be opened and archived (it's not free, but i find it well worth it):
Create Books From TXTs SMS Android Apps on Google Play

14. Log out of social media Facebook and messenger apps when not in use. If you don't have to be tethered to Facebook waiting for someone to message you.. log out at the minimum when you are playing your games. your battery will thank you.

Samsung Galaxy S6: Phone Froze and will not power off:

Hello

To power off the S6 if it will not power off:

Hold down the power button for about 30 seconds.. it should force the device to power off completely.

Wait for 30 seconds while it is off..

After that time, we want to see if we can do something to help your phone out.. so let's wipe the cache partition which will remove any temporary system files.. sometimes clearing this helps your present phone use:

simultaneously (at the same time) do this:
Hold down the power button, the up volume key, and the home button, until you see a few words at the top of the screen that are blue.. once you see that take your finger off the power button, but keep pushing down the up volume button and the home button at the same time.. until you see the little green android

if it says it is updating the phone, let it update.. it maybe install a patch on your phone..

when you see a bunch of lines of words you are where you need to be

phone-frozen-up-will-not-turn-off-in-kyzl0pi20tqzz121bvlihxv0-4-0.jpg BE CAREFUL what you select
if you are not reading what you select you can wipe your whole phone deleting all your data

use the volume keys to scroll up or down.. but for right now we want to go down the list, so use the down volume button on the left side of the phone..

scroll down to:
"wipe cache partition"

just above it will be to factory reset the whole device.. this is the dangerous one.. this is why i want you to be aware of what you are selecting.

once, you highlight
"wipe cache partition"
use the power button to select this
wait for the phone to finish which should take 1 second..

then, tap the power button once more..
(the highlight will be on reset device)
to reset the phone.. it will power off, then power back on

the issue why it froze, could be anything software related.. it is mostly caused by User Error or an App error. it could be an app that didn't play well with something.. so check your downloaded apps by uninstalling the last one you installed to see if that helps.. (process of elimination).. it could also be if you were downloading or updating something and you interrupted the transmission causing the phone to freeze
