The first place to start will be the Main power supply. Any time the set shuts down and goes to standby is a symptom of a bad power supply. I recommend replacing the power supply unless you are skilled in component level repair.

That growling sound is most likely a your color wheel. Often, a color segment breaks free and causes the wheel to become unbalanced. I would suggest searching for a tutorial or "How-To" on replacing it. Basically, you need to disconnect (about 4 connections) and remove the Light Engine (2 screws). Then pull the cover off the color wheel housing (to the left of the lamp, 2 screws). Disconnect and remove the color wheel (2 screws and 2 connectors). You will need to use a vac the glass out from the lost color segment(s). Here's a tip for reassembly: color wheel 4-wire ribbon.. copper on the connector should face you. Also, the lamp door switch must be tripped or the TV will not fire up. I hope this was helpful.

Have a 56-inch Samsung flatscreen projection TV.
The digital board is bad and needs replaced. If you can get the board you hace to crack the metal chassi . Its a pain but if you are mechaniaclly inclined you might be able to do it. Pull the chassi and dissassemble. Lots of screws. Don't force anything and study it closely. It's tricky. There is also a memory transfer proceedure. The board from Samsung comes with instructions.

Some lamp door need to be installed as though they are hinged at the bottom. Remove the lamp door, insert the bottom of the door first, then swing the top inward. Secure it and give it a try. The reason behind this, the lamp door switch is positioned in such a manner that if the door is installed straight on, it pushes the switched are up. When the cabinet expands, due to normal heating, the switch moves just enough that is hits the off position. When installed correctly, with a hinge like motion, the switch will be pushed down, in the correct position. Give it a go and let me know it that does the trick.

Hi
Thanks
for using FixYa. Heat is the
number one enemy of electronics, and these sets operate hot. This problem is
caused by the power supply being overloaded. This is often caused by failed
convergence ICs. Also please check that the lamp is fine. Over time the
capacitors will change value, leak and become defective. Resistors will change
value and burn. This will cause other components to become defective. This can
have a domino effect and cause other parts to fail. Replacing one defective
part may make the TV operate for a short time but the part will fail again since
if the parts that caused the failure to begin with are not replaced. The
typical cost to get this fixed by a pro is about $300 - and it doesn't mean
that he/they will do a job better than you do. The parts are less than $100
(about $20-$30 for the IC's) if you want to do it yourself. Replacing only the
IC's may solve the problem; however, many people have also had blown resistors
requiring replacement. If one is shot the other one is not far away and for
that little price of the chips it worth changing them both at the same time.
Also the convergence board should be checked for cracked solder. If you replace
the ICs and the resistors are shot, the ICs may blow again almost immediately,
meaning you may have to do the repair twice.
Please do
accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further
assistance.
Thanks
Rylee

My Samsung 50'' DLP msg "Check Fan No. 3"
You can attempt to remove the back cover, but there is a very delicate mirror in the back. I'd just move it away from the wall, used compressed air to clean out the fans, and put everything back together. Just make sure you don't damage the color wheel or light engine.
