What color wheel model number do I need. I get different answers on various web sites.
The color wheel that goes in an HLP4663WX/XAA is: BP96-00674A This is the correct color wheel.

I just replaced the color wheel in my Samsung HLP4663W DLp tv. Now the color is off and the picture in not clear like HD should be. What should I do to fix this problem? I have read that removing the "jumper" near the color wheel could solve this problem, is that true and how do I remove it??
When I removed the jumper wire the screen color problems I experienced after changing the color wheel were fixed completely. I did not need to reset the CCA values (which came with my color wheel, on a separate sticker). If you have a black bracket blocking access to the jumper wire, as I did, you can access the jumper wire by removing the fan shown just to the left of the yellow and white sticker; there are two screws attaching the fan to the chassis below it. Next, remove the two screws that hold the silver clamshell (the housing for the circuit board) halves together. These screws are right behind where the fan just was, on either side of the protruding fins. They each have a spring under the screw head. You can then pull the visible half of the silver housing forward (with the bracket attached). You will then have access to the entire circuit board. Look for CN810 - it is located right behind where that bracket just was when it was all put together. Pull the tiny black plastic part (that has the jumper wire) off of the pins. Then reassemble the housing and put the fan back on.

after replacing the color wheel on my DLP and removed the jumper i now get a shadowing effect on the dark colors is there an adjustment or a fix for this problem?
If the color wheel you replaced was the BP96-00674A, it would have come with the proper cca adjustments for that particular wheel. You must enter the service menu and reset the cca's for proper color.

color off after changing color wheel
The jumper that you need to remove is a small usually black block of plastic approx 1/4" in across and 1/8" thick located near the center of the shiny silver colored apparatus into which the color wheel is plugged. Mine had a label that read FDB Bearing Color Wheel, BP67-00099A and two illustrations indicating open and shorted conditions. The label was just over the jumper. I pulled it out with needle nose pliers and the problem was solved. GndLoop

Lamp light flashed then tv restarts a few times then all 3 lights flash. No picture or sound.
I replaced the lamp with no success, then the ballast today. I stuck a voltmeter on the ballast power plug while it was plugged in and the tv powered on and it read 320 VDC so I assume the lamp, ballast and power supply are good. Would that be right?
I did notice about a month before it quit working a winding noise when the tv was powered off after running for several hours, more like half the day. That was probably the color wheel showing signs of normal wear and tear?
What should I check? I dont know what the DMD board does but I see it's brought up allot with this fault.
Color wheel is the biggest failure part in Samsung DLP...
A little technical to replace...............T.

I just replaced a new lamp on my samsung (HL-S4666W)tv. now how to reset the lamp hour meter? thanks Don
Here is the procedure for resetting the lamp timer.
This is a quick reference guide to show you how to reset your Samsung DLP TV’s lamp hour meter or hour counter. Resetting the counter is a very simple procedure.
Begin with the TV powered off.
Point your remote towards your TV.
Press:
Mute + 1 + 8 + 2 + Power.
Your TV set should now say “Loading Factory”.
Browse down to “Option” then press Enter (or the right cursor button).
NOTE: The Mute+1+8+2 buttons needs to be pressed down consecutively and fairly quickly. If your TV does not enter the service menu after using this combination, you can substitute MENU instead of MUTE. This seems to work for some sets. Also, the right cursor arrow also acts as the ENTER button, so try it if you’re having difficulty with the ENTER button.
To exit the service menu, hit press the EXIT button or just turn off your TV (remember not to turn on your TV immediately afterwards!).
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

I have black spots that look like a shadow in behind them does anyone know why this would happen
I had the same problem with my Samsung DLP tv a couple of weeks ago. I had to clean the lenses, mirrors and the DMD sensor to fix it, you must remove the rear cover to do this. If the mirrors and lenses were cleaned but the spots were still there, the final thing to do is to clean the sensor chip on the DMD board. It is located under the heat sink behind the small fan in the lower center of the rear of the TV. The DMD board will have to be removed to get to the back of the sensor. All you have to do is blow some dry canned air across it to remove the dust, do not wipe it with anything. The repair is somewhat complicated and you will probably have to realign the picture by adjusting the position of the DMD board when finished.
