My hlp4663 keeps turning off. i took the cover off, moved the blue switch, cleaned it. put it back together and it still turns off. when it does the lamp, timer, and temp light in front all come on an
My HLS 4666WX/AXX had a similar problem. I replaced the lamp, I also used an air compressor to blow out all of the dust, and the picture improved, but, the problem still occurred. I then found info about how to reset the TV to factory spects. Power off, press Mute or Menu, 1, 8, 2, power. The set came on and started to work even better. I put a fan in back near the air intake vents. and the set worked great, maybe sutting down after 3 four hours and then I would power it back on. I finally called a repair service to come out to see if the set could be repaired. While waiting for the service tech. to show up the next day, I did another reset. This time, I unplugged the set from the power source, and also the power cord from the back set. I left it off for 2 minutes, previously it was 1 minute, I then plucgged it back in. I did the fractory reset over, Mute,1,8,2, power, it turned on, I removed the external fan I had set up, and it has been working like new sence then. One week now and everything is as new. The repairman said the external fan blowning in was not the best thing to do. As the fan inside sucks air through the cabinet and out through the vents. All my fan was doing was stopping the proper air flow. There were a few dark spots near the top of the screen that I thought were pressure marks. They have since disappeared. The technitian said there is a protective cover over the LCD screen and dust sometimes acumaltes in between the screen and the protective shield. So the fan thing evidently was able to pull the acumilated dust out as well.
