you have it on progressive scan turn it off using the remote, slide down the front.

First, wiggle the input for the speakers around to make the connection is in place. That can sometimes give you a hiss if the signal isnt connecting. If that doesnt work, then check the DVD eye to make sure its working properly. Try to unplug it, then plug it back into the wall in order to fix the issues.
