The process is slightly different per carrier, but generally you will need to log in, select the line you are activating a device on, and then enter the IMEI number for the phone you are activating. If you're activating a prepaid plan online, you will likely need to enter an Activation Code.
It is not a good idea to post your IMEI number on the internet. IMEI is a security code for your phone and that is what you network provider uses to lock your handset when it is stolen.
It depends what the PIN is to? If it is for a cellphone, it has to be done on it. If it is for a bank debit card, it has to be done in a cash machine. Credit cards can be done automated by dialing the number and going through the automated system.
