Hi Michael, You do not plug Chromecast into your laptop HDMI port, it is a video source, so you need to plug it into an HDMI port on your TV. Your TV is an HDMI target, the view side. If you can run Chrome browser on your laptop, you can cast from your laptop to your Chromecast device and watch that frame on your TV. Does that make sense?
