In Inkjet printers there is no separate print head as in dot matrix printers. They have, instead, tiny nozzles at the bottom of the ink cartridges. When and if they are choked, as can happen when they are kept unused for some time, then the printing will have missing portions. You can try to clean the nozzles using the printer software provided by HP. If this does not work then you will have to replace the cartridges. Even after this the problem is persisting then you will have to replace the data card - an electronic circuit board - inside the printer. You may also try to to uninstall reboot and reinstall the UB and printer drivers first, to rule out any problem from the software side.

Have you setted up in the printer driver to print on label? the printer will automatically adjust the internal parts for printing on a higher density paper! If you done it gently remove the Duplexer unit from the behind of the printer and chech for pieces of paper or everything could cause the paper jam!
