Try removing the battery in the remote. If it stops happening, you need to buy a new remote. If it not, the control electronics is messing up.

You may not have the correct remote for that TV. There is no 'connecting' involved. Either it immediately operates the TV or it's a similar unit that will only operate minor things like on & off.
