Try going into Options ' Advanced Options ' Browser. Next to the Default Browser Configuration, does it say BlackBerry Browser? If so change it to Internet Browser and see if it works.

This is a service provider related issue, if they are unable to assist while you are abroad, then might I suggest you pick up a cheap pay as you go type phone while there?
